Rose's Questions
1. You get to spend a day in the world of your favourite novel. You can’t change the plot but you can interact with the world and characters. What do you do?
Invite myself over to Pemberley and befriend Elizabeth. (And then, who knows, Darcy may have another cousin. )
2. Do you have any non-canon literary ships. If so, what are they? (Or one of them.)
For some reason, I don't seem to have non-canon literary ships. Now that I think about it I don't seem to have any non-canon ships - even when I said I shipped Mary x Evelyn more than Mary x Blake or Mary x Tony it was more in jest than in earnest. I guess that I just eat whatever the writers give me? (except in Scandal - I don't ship Olivia x Fitz and never have. Sorry. and it's best if I shut up now).
3. If you could write/read one classic novel as a modern AU, what would the scenario be and why?
Your questions are so interesting Rose! And yet I feel that my answers aren't so - I have no idea because I think that what drew me to that particular novel was the mix of the characters, plot, etc and the time when it takes place and I never quite considered other options modern-AU-wise.
Despite it happening in my own ff, where I never stray to far from the original material, I've read wonderful modern AUs of Pride and Prejudice, for example.
4. One scene from one book that the author chose not to write/paraphrased and you wish had been played out in full?
Perhaps there are some about which I thought this when I read them, but I can't think of any at the moment. (I'm sorry if I've made you regret tagging me).
5. What novel would you most like to see turned into a six part lavish BBC drama?
Ashwell Park? :D
Now, in truth, plenty of the ones I've thought I'd like to see like that have already been turned into lavish BBC drama (or ITV drama or film) but I'd say Blonde by Joyce Carol Oates.
It's a bit out of that wheelhouse because it's a fictionalised biography of Marilyn Monroe but it's so good. Rumour has it that a film will be made with Naomi Watts as Marilyn but that book is about 700-page long, how will they put it decently into a film?
My (terrible) questions
1. If you could overturn only one death in a book, which would it be?
2.If you could bring a cancelled show back, which one would it be?
3. What book will you re-read next?
4. What book do you regret having read until the end?
5. Forget what they say - what's your favourite book cover (whether you liked what's inside or not)?
