Alaska Hat(s)

As you might know, I have a weird obsession with this pattern and have done this a few times, so I'm combining the first couple...

I think my first (the left) was my favorite color combination, but I gifted it to someone who doesn't use it anymore and who refuses to give it back...

I still have my autumn version and might continue to switch it up with my new watermelon version some...

Well, for once everyone got their gifts on time this year! Even if I did have to finish them up on the plane. This hat was a lesson in patience. Using fingering weight yarn is always a struggle for me, as is two-color knitting, and the yarn didn’t actually gradate the way I wanted so I had to hack it up & rearrange to get the look I was going for. The double brim took fifty years. I would’ve done the decreases a bit differently, but I would’ve had to rip back quite a bit and at a certain point I just wanted the thing done. And I think it turned out great! I’m thrilled it fits and hope my bro enjoys it.

I realized I hadn't posted a knitting update in a while. I'm in a bit of a slump with knitting motivation so not much progress on stuff. Hit a wall with the Alaska hat when Sock-a-palooza started on June 1st and I'm slowly trudging along on my Smokestack socks.

This gradient is so pretty! It's fading much more nicely than I thought it would too

Working on this hat for my mom for next winter. Just got to the colorwork portion! A little early for winter as spring has just got here, but wanted a short little project since my local yarn store is hosting a Sock-a-palooza in June.

Froggin' Friday

As much as I love the feel of this yarn (Knit Picks Capretta, very soft and lush for a fingering weight), I was really unhappy about my poor contrast for the colorwork, so I finally bit the bullet and frogged my latest Alaska Hat. (Pattern: Alaska Hat by Camille Descoteaux)

Gotta appreciate the crinkly ramen vibes. Hoping to relax the yarn a bit and reuse elsewhere, just wasn't the right choice for this projct.

Now to pick new colors...
