My college ostensibly has a rivalry with the only other sizeable university in Alaska (no one cares about this the way they do in the lower 48) and the most hyped aspect of this so-called rivalry is a men's hockey game for "the Governor's Cup" which we have won for the last fifteen years in a row. Fish & Game had a black bear that was getting into cabins and being food aggressive to people, I think this was in remote Southcentral AK, and so they put a bounty on its head. And this guy's solution was to make an IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICE out of mining explosives underneath bait in a gizmo that TRIGGERED ON A BEAR BITE FORCE. He brought the hide with paws attached into ADF&G like you're supposed to but there wasn't no skull

when i was in grad school my advisor was very proud of taking his daughter on her first camping trip (she was four) and i was SHOCKED because how do you have a human for four whole years without taking her camping? and then i met full grown adults in my program who had never been camping and had to reevaluate. anyway the whole thing was a good reminder that my experiences were not universal
