On Monday, at least 16 people were confirmed dead, and an equal number were injured in an avalanche that occurred on Sunday in Alausi.
Tragedy strikes Ecuador as a landslide in Alausí leaves at least 16 people dead and 16 injured. Over 500 people have been affected by the disaster, with 22 injured and 7 missing. President Guillermo Lasso has ordered the activation of units of the Secretariat of Risk Management to support the victims and provide assistance. Firefighting teams and medical personnel are on the ground, and temporary shelters have been set up for those affected. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families during this difficult time.
