Description: Allen and Kanda’s thorny relationship is slowly healing when a rescued Lavi joins them on the run. It’s been a long time since they were all together like this, and the missed months have put a great distance between the boys. Old and new wounds start surfacing as secrets, misunderstandings and confusion gnaw at them. Allen, Lavi and Kanda will have to take a step back if they want to keep the bonds that are becoming more and more important to each of them. Personal demons are buried deep–but could they finally handle the sunshine that is offered by human contact? The warmth is there; it just needs to be accepted before it gets lost for good.
Prologue
Kanda stepped up from his bed and moved in front of Allen and Lavi. His hands made small, unconscious grabbing motions as he weighed up the situation. His dark expression betrayed little, but Allen could see all kinds of emotions going through his head. After all, Allen wasn’t the only one feeling helpless.
”Don’t,” Allen warned his tense friend. ”We can’t do anything to change what happened to him. We are lucky he is still here with us.”
Kanda was quiet. He leaned closer to Lavi, searching for something from the other’s emotionless face. He didn’t seem to find what he was looking for and turned his head aside.
”If he is here,” Kanda whispered sourly. “He doesn’t look like he is anywhere right now. But even if he is, if he thinks it is not here where he is...”
