Hello! A friend and I set up the Mahoyaku Resource Masterlist last year, containing translations, guides and all sorts of useful resources for the mobile game Mahoutsukai no Yakusaku (MHYK/Promise of Wizard) by coly! 

Today’s the 1st year anniversary of the masterlist, so I figured I’d share it here; hopefully it can come in useful for someone out there!

ASK, Gero and Kogeinu’s tweets about Faneru and the April 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake

THIS IS A RE-TRANSLATION MADE ON 17 FEBRUARY 2019. I have added more tweets and a more detailed sequence of events.

My original post, made 17 April 2016, is here with several translation errors.

On the 14th of April 2016, an earthquake struck Kyushu’s Kumamoto region at 9.26pm Japan time, where Faneru lives. This was the magnitude 6.2 foreshock.

ASK was the first one to update us on Faneru’s status, with a tweet 12 minutes after the earthquake.

ASK: Because I think many of my followers will probably be worried, I decided to tweet. Faneru-kun is safe. Please do not worry.

Kogeinu retweeted this tweet, and also tweeted himself. 

Kogeinu: It seems that my friends who live in the area are safe.

Kogeinu: This time there are quite a lot of aftershocks

Gero tweeted some time after. His tweet has since been deleted but was preserved in my original post: ふぁねるは大丈夫。 皆さんも無事でありますように

Gero: Faneru is alright. I pray that everyone stays safe as well. ASK: Daijoubu, daijoubu~

After the quake, clear and nero, who are also from Kumamoto (but are now based in Tokyo), tweeted as well. 

nero: I was able to contact my family in Kumamoto. Some bruises and scratches were suffered, but everyone is alright, so I am relieved. Thank you for your concern! ASK: That’s a relief.

clear: My friends and family from Kumamoto are alright!! Thank you everyone for worrying!!!! 

ASK later tweeted again, some two hours after his first tweet.

ASK: Also, somehow, my earlier tweet about Poppo-chan* being safe got so many RT and favourites, it’s pretty funny. That guy is provoking the earthquake by saying “Another big (earthquake) came    ( ՞ਊ ՞） “. If a super-huge one comes, I think it’s probably his fault.  

It was especially funny because in the days leading up to this period of time (and even after), ASK had been super inactive on Twitter, with mainly automated bot tweets on his account. But he came back just to reassure fans that Faneru was safe, which got an outpouring of reactions (910 RTs, 1.4k Favourites). 

Then he dived into wiseman mode, somewhere near 1am.

ASK: During 11 March (2011′s earthquake) I felt this way as well, but those who are not near the affected areas, stop looking at the news and rest early. Because there’s school and work tomorrow as usual.

ASK: Besides those in the relevant professions, we can only offer help to those affected in the ways that we are able to. First of all, what we can do is to make sure society returns to normal by continuing with our everyday lives.

ASK: Why do I feel like an older brother character

On the 16th of April, two days after the foreshock, the main quake struck Kumamoto at 1.25am, with a magnitude of 7.0.

roro, a fellow utaite who is also a Kumamoto resident and friend of Faneru & ASK, was the first to tweet.

roro (2.10am): I got in touch with Faneru-kun over LINE. He’s safe.

roro (2.40am): The problem where ASK-san is sleeping, so he can’t spread the news that Faneru is safe.

roro (2:57am): Faneru-kun is playing ping-pong...! Aomofu (2:58am): That fellow’s carefree, huh.  

roro tweeted again in the morning as well.

roro (8.08am): The Kumamoto residents, myself and Faneru-kun, are safe, so please do not worry!

In ASK’s absence, Aomofu took over. 

Aomofu (2.53am): Because ASK-san is sleeping, for now. Faneru-kun is alright! Though I think ASK-san will definitely talk about it in the morning when he wakes up! For now! ASK (9.20am): ASK was sleeping soundly LOL

ASK: No, it’s not a time to be laughing. For now, roro-niki and Poppo-chan are alright! At times like this, LINE is really convenient.

ASK: Somehow Faneru sent me LINE messages like “I came to play ping-pong”, but I wonder if it was because of the earthquake?

A few more tweets...

nero: I’m keeping in touch with my friends and family in Aso, and I’ve confirmed they’re all safe, but it’s still a worrying situation... But every time I contact them, they encourage me to not worry as they are alright, so I will stay strong and do my best! Everyone else, please stay safe.

clear: Actually, my younger sister’s family house is in Masushiro, but it seems that it cannot be lived in anymore because it’s tilting...

clear: They used chairs to write SOS on the grounds of a national high school but... as expected, there don’t seem to be enough relief supplies (´•_•`)

roro: Getting the Earthquake Early Warning while taking a dump is the worst (the worst)

*Poppo-chan: Gero’s nickname for Faneru, which has been collectively adopted by all of Faneru's fans and friends. It dates back to 2012 - the full name is Hatomune Tenshi Poppo-chan (Pigeon Chest Angel Poppo-chan).

chapter 227 spoilers and possible mistranslations here

i’ll just chuck them in here under the cut. won’t be tagging the main tag because i’m worried that i might be mistranslating some parts. i didn’t translate the full chapter because i wasn’t intending to do live translation in the first place lol, but here’s the main gist of what’s going on, translated to the best of my understanding

SPOILERS FOR KRORY’S DIALOGUE

krory saying he wants to meet allen, then saying he knows that if he meets allen he will have to fight allen

and then he says, “i want to meet (allen)… "but if we do meet… "i don’t want to meet…!" 

and his thought dialogue: ‘please… run away from us…’

the panel where allen attacks kanda 

Johnny: "HEY HEY HEY WAIT WAIT WAIT THE TWO OF YOU— IN THIS NARROW PLACE—-" (it’s dangerous!!!)

what i’m getting out of this panel (took me forever to read the dialogue) is that kanda says they’re not pursuing him, they’re going to bring him out of town (i’m not too sure about this tho)

allen says WOW DO YOU EXPECT ME TO SAY THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO THAT??? and goes on to add no thank you, i  don’t need your help, i can escape  by myself

kanda says something along the lines of, (escape) alone?! we just saved you, you have no sense of direction! (lol)

and allen goes, "ha? but i’m the one who’s been running away from all the nets and traps for the last 3 months” (and he adds as a side note: damn, it’s narrow) (lmao)

kanda: THANKS TO TIM, YOU IDIOT

allen says something about him and tim being one (unit, i suppose??)

and he asks kanda to shut up lol

the page where the apocryphos-nea??? feather things appear

allen chokes/stops suddenly when in the midst of fighting w/ kanda, and johnny calls his name in worry 

allen tells them not to worry, and he says “if you’re really not pursuing me, please, let me go”

and i think this is nea?: “what is this… closed/stuck/kept in a carriage…?”

he asks johnny and kanda to please… go back to the Order already

i don’t understand a great deal of what he’s saying here lmao but he says “as of right now, i cannot protect anyone”

not johnny, the human being; not kanda, whose lifespan has been already shortened

such fragile things - he does not want them by his side (i’m amazed that he said this to kanda’s face)

……………. then both kanda and allen start … clicking their tongues at each other

kanda: “tch. troublesome. until we leave the town, you’re going to sleep”

allen’s like WTF as kanda cracks his knucles lmao

johnny: wh-w-wh-wha-what ARE YOU DOING KANDA kanda (talking normally, apparently): “it’ll just take one punch” johnny: NO NO NO N O NO NO NO N O

johnny tells kanda what happened in the previous chapters with the earl, where nea appeared; he says that allen’s body is weakened (smth like that?) and NO VIOLENCE ALLOWED

that’s something kanda didn’t know before, so he’s shocked 

johnny asks both of them to just calm down and TALK

johnny says they can’t help allen being confused - kanda appeared together with tiedoll, so it’s understandable that allen would think kanda was there to bring him back to the order (thanks @nea-writes for the clarification!)

tiedoll tells kanda that this isn’t the way to do things… he knows that kanda doesn’t want to pursue allen, but if he doesn’t tell the truth to allen he’ll be hurting him instead

so do it properly, he tells kanda. you should have already prepared yourself (to tell him the truth)

both allen and johnny stare at the bottle that tiedoll’s pulled out, thinking: 'salt…?’ LOL 

johnny thinks that kanda wants to beat allen, so he grabs kanda’s hand

then kanda says “johnny, let go. i’m not going to beat him. let go of my hand.”

 so johnny lets go.

“……moyashi.”

“it’s allen.”

was the real reason why you ran away from the order, from me and johnny, because of 'it’? 

there’S A LOT OF CONTENT IN THIS DIALOGUE basically kanda says his memories were replaced and his curse fixed the false memories. and he says that /it/’s purpose was to destroy timcanpy

he says that he was slow to realise/react, and holds up the wooden chunk, saying that “tim did this to let you escape”. (google translate says 'made a deal to let you escape’)
