The Trout is an intimate performance of two much-loved chamber works from the early romatic era, featuring the Braddell Heights Chamber Players with local pianist Albert Lin and guest cellist Daniel Morris from Sydney, Australia.
The centrepiece of the programme is Franz Schubert’s Piano Quintet in A major D. 667, aka the ‘Trout’, so named for the theme of the fourth movement which is taken from his Lied Die Forelle (The Trout). The Trout quintet has a unique sonority among chamber works due in part to its unusual configuration, which includes a double bass in the string ensemble, and only one violin instead of the usual two. One of Schubert’s lighter and more accessible works, the ‘Trout’ Quintet remains a firm favourite among lovers of fine music.
