I have to admit, Cuanu... that is a REAL bad headfur day you're having! *chuckle* Yep.. a real.. umm.. bad one. er.. (am I sure I want to be *laughing* right now??) Cuanu Colfax © Conna Stevenson 1997-04-30
My sympathies and deepest condolences to the friends and family of Albert Temple aka Gene Catlow, who has passed away from natural causes at the age of 59 this past week.
Albert was well known in the furry community as a creator and unflinchingly supported everything and everyone he came across. He was a fan and follower of everyone. This was a man who never said a negative word about anyone, to even imagine him being angry is impossible… and those who knew him will say it was an honor to have him as a friend.
Thank you for your hard work Albert and being a kind soul. May you find peace and happiness on the other side.
Rest in peace.
RIP Albert ”Gene Catlow” Temple
...it’s terrible that the thing that snaps me out of my non-drawing funk is the untimely death of one of the cornerstones of the webcomic community, abruptly putting his seventeen-year-running(!!) comic on permanent hiatus.
This inadvertently doubles as a thanks to David Hopkins for drawing my story, “You’re So Mean” (Jack Arc XLVII), but there’s really no more appropriate tribute, I think.
Michelle was gonna be her own picture, but I’m not THAT far out of my funk just yet =(
Sad news
This morning I learned that Albert Temple, AKA Gene Catlow, was found dead in his home on March 9, 2017, apparently of natural causes, at a far too young age of 59.
His eponymous webcomic has run since July 2000, covering issues of race and politics in a distinctly utopian and optimistic way, with a unique world building. His comic was always an acquired taste, but as I look through my comic bookmarks, the only other comic I’ve followed as long, and as consistently was Bill Holbrook’s Kevin and Kell.
Back in the late 90′s, not long after discovering the internet, I quickly learned that I was not the only fan of like animal-headed characters or “Anthropomorphic” comics. I can remember downloading his art from the old “Velan Central Library” via FTP, and it hits me now just how much that era changed my life.
Rest well, Gene. And my deepest condolences to his close friends and family.
