Alberto has spoken several times on how he isn't even fluent in Spanish, and that it's something he has to work up to in order to speak it regularly. It's not something he can just start doing on the fly.

Most importantly though, stop fetishizing this man for his latinidad. Stop asking him to perform his ethnicity for you. It's not cute.

I'm glad Alberto seems to really understand Raphael as a character. He's never said a bad thing about him, and that's because he knows deep down Raphael is not a bad guy. He understands that Raphael has a difficult job and that the Shadowhunters and Simon don't often make it any easier on him so sometimes he has to make decisions that not everyone is going to like in order to protect his people.
