Jazz Factory Recommends: Bill Evans - Portrait in Jazz. I haven’t done one of these in a long while, mostly because I’ve not been listening to Jazz. It’s one of those things you can have to much of and grow sick of it. I’m slowly rebuilding my relationship with Jazz now and it’s really nice to re discover artists and albums I’d forgotten about. Bill Evans music is gorgeous. He plays with simultaneously complete passionate engagement and what seems to be almost minimal effort. It’s effortless and sublimely effective in its rich texture. Portrait in Jazz in one of those albums that I think embodies this fully. Album Recommendation: ZILCH - Skyjin
I’m new to this band, its history, everything. Nonetheless, I came across this album by accident, as I was aimlessly looking for something to listen to while at work.
I have to admit this has been an exciting surprise! What an album! It’s fantastic!
The rhythm, the guitar riffs... I was dancing along as I finish this logo for a client. Unfortunately, I can’t compose a decent, in-depth analysis of this album, since I feel I’m not informed enough. However, I had the urgency to share it, and definetely recommend it, while I prepare a decent post about ZILCH.
If you manage to have the time, and you like bands such as Hide, Jane’s Addiction, or Oblivion Dust, definetely give this album a listen.
