A few things to keep in mind
As I’m finishing up fall term at university, there’s a few things I’d like to remind not just myself, but everyone reading this;
Everything you do in university, you do it for yourself.
Remember that the reason you’re here is to better your education.
It’s all your classes, your studies, your future.
It’s okay to fuck up, as long as you get back up.
A Bachelor’s degree is still gonna be a Bachelor’s degree even if you take 6 years to finish it.
There are people on campus to help you out in anything.
Talk to your counselors, they can answer any question and direct you to resources if you’re struggling.
Speaking of which, don’t wait until the last possible moment to get help. Go speak to someone at the first sign of trouble.
Shit, you know nothing about financial aid, talk to counselor.
Shit, you overslept and missed a class, talk to professor/classmate/TA.
emailing profs/TA usually works if you don’t know their office hours.
Heck, you need help on hw, go to tutoring centers around campus for that subject if they have it.
If not, look stuff up on youtube and the internet.
Make a study group.
Ask your classmates for help.
You’re not the only one going through this.
The worst that can happen is them saying no.
etc.
Try to maintain healthy habits and manage a schedule.
This means eating actual food, not just fast food or ramen.
Classic stuff, ya know.
Sleeping at a reasonable time (This actually helps out a lot).
Drinking water.
Exercise. (taking a walk during a frustrating hw helps)
etc.
Managing a schedule and sticking to it takes a hell of a lot of discipline.
Something I like to do is keeping an app to track my assignments/quizzes/tests. (Google Calendar is awesome for this).
I also add my work schedule to this.
This way, you know when is something coming up and can plan accordingly while still having wiggle room for unexpected plans or having time to chill.
I still procrastinate sometimes, it’s hard af to keep yourself from leaving that math hw till the last moment.
None of these changes happen overnight.
As previously stated, it’s okay to fuck up. What matters is that you tried and haven’t given up.
Enjoy your time in uni, it ain’t gonna last, but the memories will.
