The boy listened to his own music. The party’s music was too loud and dance-y for him but he was supposed to be present to attend to his royal. What the boy didn’t know was that he was singing too loud for his own good.
“Am I the only person who thinks this would be a lot more fun if the music was faster and the girls were wearing less?” Andrew asked the person beside him. He looked out at the all the people dancing before sighing and taking a sip of his drink.
Aelin quietly made her way into the room the event was being held; one hand reaching up to push a stray hair that had escaped from the tumble of curls she had pinned up. It had taken her a bit longer than expected to get ready, and now it seemed as if most people had already arrived. Glancing around, nonchalantly yet curious; she took in both the familiar faces and those of people she had yet to be acquainted with.
Laughter and music resounded around her as people spun and danced amongst each other; while others stood or sat around the room talking. A part of her wanted to join in the dancing; join in the excitement, but she stopped herself for the moment.
Head held high, she prowled forward, moving swiftly around people as she made her way to the other side of the room, in hopes of finding a slightly less crowded spot.
“I am only here for the food, drink and the excuse to dress up, so unless you are providing me with food or drink I am not interested.”
“Well, don’t you scrub up nicely.”
Entering the event, it felt as if he had not cared at all. In the first place, he’d always planned to be there to only drown his sorrows through shots of the famous Jack Daniels. His view only remained to his drink and the soulmate that he longed for, while the rest of everything had never existed, so much similar to an empty bar. Bottoms up, the liquid began to invade his throat with the cold sensation. His eyes had never left her, looking all glamourous and it pained him to see that she was happily with another.
