ヽ( ´O`): What is their body language like when sleepy?
Edward is terrible at hiding how he’s feeling physically. His shoulders get really loose when he’s tired, and his whole body starts to droop. He yawns almost constantly, and his eyes get half-lidded. He starts having trouble focusing so he gets really spacey and because of this his head turns a lot because his eyes wander with his attention. His eyes look more and more glossed over the more tired he is.
He slumps in chairs and his shoulders drop. He groans a lot and makes little noises but doesn’t talk and that’s a key thing when Edward gets tired - he gets quiet.
(〇o〇;): What is their body language like when they are stressed? Do they try and hide the fact that they are stressed? How do they recover from said stress?
His body tenses, shoulders go rigid and he gets really tight in his movements. He tends to wrinkle his nose more because when he’s stressed he’s usually angry. He’ll clench his jaw and grind his teeth together without realizing he’s doing it. He puts more weight down when he walks, and he shifts his weight from side to side with a prominence that’s hard to miss.
So as I said in the question above, Edward is horrible at hiding how he’s feeling physically so when he’s stressed - trying to hide it or not - most people know it. He totally tries to hide when he’s stressed depending on what it’s about but those moments come off as excessively tired. He’ll forget things, talk too fast, and just seem over-all rushed.
It’s not a body language thing but it’s easy to tell if he’s stressed out or tired just by reading his reports. He misspells words or forgets them entirely, his handwriting gets choppy and shaky. There will most likely be something (tea probably) spilled on one of the pages because he just all around stops paying attention. If you wanna see how stressed / tired he is - read his report. The only other reason for them looking like hell is illness and even then his handwriting has a way to give him away.
With stress his words get really sharp because he’s writing too fast so letters just stop appearing and he’ll skip entire words.
With Sleep his writing drags out and blurs. He drags his hand more so the ink smudges and he’s more likely to spill something.
With Illness he moves excessively slow, so everything kinda drags on the page and blurs out like when he’s tired, but letters will stop appearing and he’ll still skip entire words because he feels terrible and he’s not reading what he’s writing.
But to recover from stress, he has to accomplish something and once he does - he’s gotta talk it out to make sure what he’s accomplished is useful before he can do anything remotely close to stopping. He normally eats something for a minute, takes a nap - he’s like a cat he can sleep anywhere and a good nap fixes just about anything.
And if it’s not a nap - he’ll either take a long bath or get into a fight with his brother. Sometimes exercise is the best way to burn off the excess energy from being stressed out. However sparring with Alphonse is next to impossible in most of the places they end up, so naps and long baths happen more often then not.
