#2516 - Alcithoe arabica - Arabic Volute
Another battered seashell from the pile.
A large sea snail, endemic to New Zealand, where it lives on soft sediments hunting down and smothering bivalves. The surface of the intact shell is yellowish-white with chestnut zig-zag markings that vaguely resemble Arabic writing.
