anyway uh spooky season has reached it’s end BUT a halloween-ish headcanon i have is that during those 10 years cursed Barbossa would straight up hallucinate Jack. I need these bitches to have haunted each other’s lives throughout their divorce asdfhjkl Up to u how it goes eheheh

that scene in AWE where the Singapore crew has Jack and Barbossa at gunpoint and Jack glances at Barbossa and says; “He’s the captain,” and Barbossa rolls his eyes?

I 100% believe they have pulled a switcharoo at some point pre-mutiny, where for some reason they pretended Barbossa was captain and Jack as first mate.

I would like to take this a step further and gnaw over how this could have likely fed into Barbossa’s desire to captain the Pearl full stop. and boss Jack around

FURTHERMORE. That scene in CotBP where Barbossa and Jack strike their “sail under your colors” bargain, and while there’s no doubt in my mind that Barbossa was ON to Jack…you can’t convince me he didn’t like the sound of that.

post-cotbp. jack and james end up stuck in like. something. a cave system? a jungle temple? idk. something where they are trapped inside and their respective crews outside. gasp it's the 'forced to work together' trope !! double gasp maybe there's a tentive truce made between the Dauntless and the Pearl to rescue their respective commodore/captain. ofc during the whole time there's the underscoring knowledge of 'i will have to turn this man in/this guy's gonna turn me in' so at the end of the adventure jack ofc gives them all the slip and the Pearl takes off, with James, cursing wildly, giving chase

Sparbossa invading my brain cells again

modern au where Sparbossa are married and Barbossa sets Jack up to die to a) get the Pearl (a dinky ship at the docks or smth else u decide) and b) cash in on that massive life insurance policy on Jack’s head that’s there for whatever reason

flash forward a decade and Barbossa is sipping his fruity wine and enjoying the riches and taking the Pearl for a spin before he gets this text from an unknown number;

Let the custody battle begin

hey do you think some of those elaborate tales about Jack pre-canon were concocted by Hector. do ever think about the possibility of Hector hyping up Jack’s reputation to achieve some form of leverage over someone, such as someone they have to barter with/as a threat. do you ever think about what Jack must have thought to hear those tales regurgitated back to him post-mutiny. do you ever think about the possibility Elizabeth may have brought one of said stories up when she and Jack were marooned.

do you ever think about that. because I do 🫠
