thank you for the doc recs - american science tv is a nightmare. Supposedly Mythbusters actually has a different international cut with actual science??? A lot of science stuff gets cut off by religious blather on US tv. Very frustrating.
you are SO welcome! i've seen p much every documentary aired on british tv in the last fifteen years.....i check bbc iplayer every week and watch all the ones i haven't seen. i watch so many documentaries that if the bbc recycle a clip i can usually tell what documentary the clip was taken from.
i can guarantee you won't find anything about religion in any of these documentaries. lots of evidence and stuff like that. cox in particular refuses to soften the science he brings to the table, and wonders of the universe can take a couple watches bc it's so dense.
above all i'm about to list, i recommend bbc's horizon. the first episode of horizon was broadcast in 1964, and there are at least ten episodes every year about varying relevant topics. it's a staggering catalogue of great information documenting the growth of scientific understanding since the sixties as it happens. there are currently over 1100 episodes, all an hour long and packed with evidence and great information about pretty much any topic you can think of. the series has won a truly ridiculous amount of awards for its programmes, and is quite heavily hounded by the press and public to maintain its scientific backbone and avoid becoming too drama-focused.
here's a full episode list on wiki, complete with summaries. you can find episodes online and i think they sell box sets of the various 51 seasons online.
