Rules: you will be given a word. Then you share one sentence/excerpt from your wip(s) that starts with each letter of your word!

The word I was given was: FEAST

F - Feeling bold, you push Amber further back into the bed and shift so you are slightly above her. Leaning on an arm, you smile down at her, and she smiles back. This only lasts for a moment as you find your positions flipped. Amber leans down and presses a gentle kiss to your lips.

“Cute, we have a day to start, though.” She presses another kiss to your temple and moves from the bed.

E- Examining his body, you see a pendant that looks strange. You grab it and leave the room as a numbness starts to overtake you.

A - As you look out to the ridges, you notice that it has started to snow. A different version of you might have found something romantic in the snow as the sun sets, but currently you are just cold.

S - "Spirits and Souls bless this conversation, for I can't see a civil end," Alecto mutters under her breath.

T- The lights were so bright and everything hurt, blinking a few times to orient yourself with your surroundings. You look around the room and see the board.

F is from The Forest Chapter 5. E is from The Forest Chapter 4. A is from Cold Mountain Chapter 1. S is from The Forest Chapter 3. T is from Cold Mountain Prologue. Several sneak peaks for the holidays!

Life has thrown everything at Alecto, and she has handled it with as much grace (and style) as she can manage. Love her, adore her, just don't touch her or you might die.

Let's say Mc hands are cold. So they walk up to the Ro and put their hand under the Ro shirt to warm up.

How would the Ro react?

Hi Anon!!! This one is cute.

Amber: She is watching as they come over, if/when MC gets their hands under her clothes, she immediately begins plotting to get even. Don't be surprised when she shoves her freezing feet into your nightclothes once you are settled into bed.

Alecto: She is pouting because she can't get even with her hands, or she might kill MC accidentally. She is, however, taking all the covers tonight. Enjoy being cold.

Alvise: He stiffens immediately. When he turns and realizes it's MC, he chuckles a bit. He always runs hot, so he wraps them in his arms until they are trying to escape, then he holds them a little longer because they started this.

Caius: He laughs because he is colder. In fact, he returns the favor by slipping his much colder hands under MC's shirt. They are so much warmer than he, delightful truly.

MC background and RO backgrounds lite

MC (Arbore): You are a triplet from a village where that isn't allowed. Thirdborns are a sin, and triplets are unheard of. Most thirdborn children are left to die in the forest or die quite young in accidents. You are a pariah in the community. You manage to survive until the maturity ceremony, and that is when everything goes wrong. You will leave the village with two people and meet others along the way. Those people are:

Amber: is a thirdborn and a healer. Her gift comes from her being trained in medicine, growing up in the village. She was allowed to be born because her sister was sickly and wasn't supposed to survive childhood, but when she did, her village tried to cast her out. The spirits, in turn, swallowed the village and turned it into a swamp. She remains in the village in the last standing house, the one where she did all her training.

Alvise: is a secondborn and has weapons training. He has no gifts and comes from a rather brutal village that he was cast out of after killing his father, the first elder of the village, not before being tortured and permanently disfigured by his older brother, who took the spot of first elder after his father's death. Some months after he was cast out, his entire village died off; no bodies were found, but all buildings were left standing. This village was by a large river and sits low because of this; Alvise can fish. (more to come)

Alecto: was a firstborn who left her village after many people fell ill due to her curse/power she is afraid to touch people. She is quiet, and her hands are always covered. She is from the neighboring Acacia village that your elders had tried to offer you to before your coming-of-age ceremony to avoid sending you off to die in the forest. They never heard back because the village had already died for sending her away.

Caius was drawn to being by the shadow spirits. He was crafted from the souls of others who lived in the fog beyond. Well, that is how he introduces himself. It is close enough to the truth that he doesn't feel bad for it. The spirits are curious, and he is there to investigate.

Hi Long Bitch!!! How have you been?

🎶Have they ever been caroling? Caroling isn't a very big thing in the smaller villages. She takes part in singing in the chapel every year though and will go and sing with those who can't make it.

🎊Do they make New Year's resolutions? She does wishes instead of resolutions, that way if it doesn't happen then it isn't her fault. It just wasn't fated for her.

🎁How do they feel about presents? Do they enjoy giving gifts more or receiving them? She loves gifts. Alecto is a very giving person and so a chance to give a gift without being asked for a reason is perfect for her.

The first two of the winter snippets and I will have the next two done sometime tomorrow. Under the cut to keep the post small.

Caius:

“It is truly a sight to behold. The way the snow blankets the ground, as if it has always belonged there. I can’t say that I have experienced snow in this way for quite some time.”

You hear Caius say as he walks up behind you, when you turn and see him wrapped only in a light cloak you shake your head, “You could at least pretend to be cold like the rest of us.” you joke as comes to stand fully beside you.

“Oh, little dove. I was pretending. I donned a cloak just for you.“ His blue eyes sparkled with mischief as he spoke.

“I’m convinced you only donned it so I might doff it.” You half joke.

He chuckles lightly as he pulls you close. “I simply wanted to enjoy the snowfall with the one who has managed to ensnare my heart. Are my actions truly so familiar that you anticipate motive in everything I do?”

Turning fully to look at him, there is something enchanting about the way the snow clings to him, how his eyes drink you in while awaiting your response. You pull him in for a kiss and can feel as a question begins to form.

“Hush, kiss me in the snow. It’s romantic.” You murmur.

He only smirks against your lips before recapturing them with a passion that causes something to burn within you.

Alecto:

“One large egg” Alecto says aloud as she reads from the recipe book that she dragged out of a box several days prior.

You watched bemused from your corner of the room. Alecto wished for company, but not any assistance.

As she adds all the ingredients, you are in awe at the precision. When the first batch is slid into oven, the scent of something familiar starts to fill the kitchen.

“Are you making Gingermen?” You question with a smile.

A wide smile spreads across Alecto’s face as she begins cleaning up the space. “I am, I know how much everyone enjoys them, just don’t tell Alvise or he will hang about in the hall.”

*if Child of Winter

“I don’t see why you wouldn’t let me help. I know my way around the kitchen.” You say, pouting slightly. Making Gingermen had always been something you looked forward to as a child, one of the best parts of the winter in your opinion.

“Because I wanted to do something for you. I promise next time we can bake together.”

Pulling her by the waist, you lean in for a kiss, careful to avoid her hands.

*Other seasons

“I could have helped you know. I can crack an egg and combine ingredients.” You say with faux hurt.

“Mhmm yes, I am familiar with your… creations.” Alecto starts.

“My creations?” You ask with a laugh.

“Well, I’m not sure what else to call them… they certainly aren’t edible.” Alecto says with a grimace.

You can only sigh. She isn’t wrong. In fact, inedible was kind when confronted with whatever you attempted to make. “Creations it is then.”

Alecto crosses the kitchen with a faint smile on her lip, “I don’t mean any harm. I’m sorry, my love.”

Sighing dramatically, you fight a smirk. “I suppose I could forgive you… for a kiss.”

Laughing Alecto kisses you softly before going to check the Gingermen.

Horrible facts about each Ros

Hi Shadowkisschy!!!

Amber: She used to put small venomous bugs in the pockets of people who were mean to her as a child so that they would have to ask her for help at the healing hut.

Now she will work herself to the point it is negligent to her own health.

Alecto: Honestly has never done anything horrible on purpose everything has been due to her plague touch.

She is haunted by the past and find it hard to forgive herself for things that are out of her control.

Alvise: He enjoyed killing his father. He knows that it is wrong and he shouldn't have taken pleasure in it and that takes away from it, taints it even, but he feels justified in knowing all the wrong his father did. Even if it was for the spirits to judge and not him.

Currently he avoids his feeling by fighting. He doesn't like to process his feelings.

Caius: He has never done something that isn't self serving. He is an inherently selfish creature and has betrayed more people than he cares to remember.

He speaks the way he does purposefully to throw people off. He Doesn't want to keep secrets but only so much light can come from the shadows.
