Don't Ever Forget
by Aledyll Alejandrino
"Life is indeed a puzzle that every beat of happiness is equaled with troubles and the moments in the future seem unpredictable because life is like living in a wilderness, we walk in different paths and each of it leads us into the strange world where we meet the unexpected.”
Life is indeed like a search, a search for total satisfaction. They said that college life is the most enjoyable and exciting part of whole study life. College life is something unforgettable and worth to be remembered and treasured.
Each day that we take our journey in our college life seems like we’re living in challenges with those hard assignments and projects, those sleepless nights for reviews, those stressful researched that we’ve undergone already, things that made us strong and more inspired.
You better know that this thing, college life is not all about headaches, but also leisure. Don’t waste your time staying in the corner of the school because there’s so many things you need to discover to know college life.
Teachers and classmates are your friends and they’re just behind you making pranks. Before you walk through a long way, remember the past and then smile because there is so much value in college.
Forget about the days when it’s been so cloudy, but don’t ever forget your hours in staying at USEP. Forget about the times when you were defeated but don’t forget the victories you’ve won with hardships. Don’t ever forget the lessons you’ve learned and remember the times you encountered life.
Don’t forget the friendly smiles you’ve seen and to always have a dream. College life marks you with different emotions but don’t ever forget its impact to you as student and as a dreamer.
Magdalena
by Aledyll Alejandrino
An innocent lady with a genuine smile,
She’s a walking doll with the sweetest lips walking down the aisle.
She has everything that others could never be,
For the stars are fading with her beauty.
Her long brown hair falling as soft as an easy chair,
Her fragrance is as fresh as the morning air.
But this was all gone when someone ruined her life,
Leave a scar that is imprinted in her soul forever.
How can she smile like there’s nothing happened?
How can she be happy like she’s not in agony?
She has been ravished with 3 foreigners and became a slave in her own home,
She was locked up and tortured until dawn.
She was paralyzed then,
All she did was cry and ask for help to them.
Yet no one can hear her grief and sorrow,
Still she’s hopeful but in a woe.
A cradle of blood, sweat, and tears,
With gripping memories painted through the years.
Colours were fading, memories were hunting,
Wondering why Magdalena can smile even she’s in pain.
Her tender hands scarred by brutal history,
Her weary eyes witness of every imaginable cruelty.
Her heart exhausted from aching over her children,
Whom for her freedom, their lives were willingly given.
Magdalena is just a nickname,
Philippines is her real name.
A land of stories told and untold,
Its value far more precious than gold.
Oh my Philippines, rise above thee!
I’ll be just fine

Throughout my life, I have been through some difficult times. At moments, I have pondered if it was worth it to put up my best effort and strive to be the best I could be, or if it was better to slip into a lackadaisical state and forget about my problems. For whatever reason it is, I have avoided being bogged down by my misfortunes and I have worked my way to success. My motivation stems in part from a desire to make my family proud. Fighting adversity isn't always the easiest path to take, and life can be difficult. Sometimes, I like to reflect on moments when my life was simpler and less complicated.
Captivating the warm touch of daylight on October 28, 2000, a beautiful angel named Aledyll Jane Shannen M. Alejandrino was born and yes, that’s me. I am the eldest of the two children of Mr. Alex Alejandrino and Mrs. Wendyll Alejandrino. As you can see, my name is a combination from my parents’ names: Ale stands for Alex and Dyll is for Wendyll. My face still looks young despite the fact that I am 21 years old. My younger brother, Aledyll Rainer M. Alejandrino, is currently in his adolescent.
I am presently in my third year of college, and I am working hard for my greatest future, even if it sometimes seems hazy because I am at my most difficult point, but I know it's simply an obstacle course that shapes who I am now and in the future.
I still remember when I was in my elementary days. I joined a school organization (Journalism) in which I am one of the representatives as a feature writer, and I was fortunate enough to win fourth place at the division level. My family was very proud of me I will be competing at the regional level with a co-companion. That time in the regional level, I gave it my all, but it wasn't enough. To be honest, I was disappointed with the outcome at the time, but my coach told us, "Yes, you lost, but at least you tried." It's just that this isn't your time to win, but I believe God has a bigger plan for you." With that, I've already accepted the truth that this isn't my time.
In my 6th grade, I made it in the volleyball varsity team. By that time, I was one of the first six. Volleyball provided me with yet another good experience. I made a lot of friends in class and on the team. This helped me at school as well, as it helped me acquire confidence in myself. Volleyball for the school team also taught me a lot about myself. During the season, our team won all the matches we were supposed to win and lost all the matches we were supposed to lose. We never pulled any upsets. Our team was second in the league going into the last meet. For our final match, we played against league the leading school, Temple Christian School Inc.
Before the game started, we went through our usual warm-up drills with our opponents. The match began, and before I knew it, we had lost the first and third sets, but had won the second and fourth. Our coach merely advised us to retain a good mindset as we began the fifth and final set: "Teamwork everyone and fighting!" We stuck to our game plan of hitting the ball and outhustling our opponents, but TCSI rallied and improved their performance. We were down a point in the contest. I didn't want to come up short. The ball was thrown towards me, but it was just out of my reach. I dove to retrieve the ball, sacrificing my body in the process. I fell after making contact with the ball. I looked up, but the ball didn’t make it over the net. We lost.
This was a point when all of my painful experiences came in handy in dealing with hardship. Playing with my effort was not the easiest thing to do. Despite the fact that we lost the first set horribly, I gave it my all in the second. When something awful happens, you can't just lay down and fold, as I learned from my father. You have to pick yourself up and work keep trying to accomplish your goals.
So here I am today. I have struggled through some hardships, but I have never allowed my emotions get the best of me. I've made it through all of my adversities and have achieved success in life. When I look back on everything, I wish I could go back in time and do things differently, but I can't say I'm unhappy with where I am now. I have a great group of friends and interests that keep me occupied. My future looks bright, owing in part to my grades, which I used to be so concerned about. I'm still unsure what I want to accomplish with my life, but I believe that if I keep pushing to be the best version of myself, I’ll be just fine.

This is where I got picked last for basketball and first for kickball. This is where my best friend hit me with a legitimate heart punch while playing pro wrestling. This is where I knew I wasn’t meant for Tennis. This is where my grandma would walk in the mornings before dropping me off at school while I played with my Ninja Turtles. This is where we would have P.E. Class because the school was so small that it didn’t have a gym so all the kids would have to follow the teacher to this park which was a block away from the school by a busy street. This is where I would break out from that same group of kids and run over for some fried chicken tenders at Golden Skillet.
