Passage for the Dark Souls by Alejandro D'Marco.
Alejandro D'Marco
Following it to its source. Air grew thin on the side of the mountain in those days. Still, they learned how not to breathe relying on the shadowy parts of their minds. Whatever opened up to them had led them there. Impossible flights with the world so far away. They might as well have been on the surface of Khonsu or any other craggy, solitary body. And yet they continued to climb, forcing their way through the preternatural fog.
Centuries of black spiritus between the ages of Sagittarius and Scorpius. Time that would fall through the cracks becoming the lore of maniacs. Heritage of daydreamers enslaved by encroaching nightmares. Until rising out of the mist. After being mired in that patina of coalescing afterlives and whispers. Emerging from its final, grasping tendrils as they came upon the stolid, otherworldly Colossi.
