Grabe ‘tong movie na 'to. Kakaiba yung binibigay na feeling. Hindi sya yung typical na romcom. Tsaka hindi din kasi pangkaraniwan yung pairing nila Empoy at Alessandra hahaha. Pero hindi ko ineexpect na kikiligin ako ng sobra sa tambalan nila o maeexcite ako sa mga susunod na mangyayari habang nanunuod. Hindi kasi ako mahilig manuod ng tagalog movies pero grabe 'to. Grabe din ang hype ng madlang pipol hahaha. Tsaka lalo tuloy akong nangarap na makapunta ng Japan sa mga pinakita nilang scenery. All in all, this movie is really worth your time and money. Napaka dami mong matututunan, hindi lang sa culture ng mga hapon, sa buhay ng pinoy sa ibang bansa, paano kilalanin ang tao ng hindi nakabase sa itsura, at kung gaano kahalaga ang nararamdaman at hindi lang ang nakikita at sinasabi. So guys, panuorin nyo na! Magsama ka para may mahampas ka ha? Hahahahahaha

ALEmpoy takes on an acting piece

Alessandra de Rossi and Empoy Marquez are already known for their comedy. But this time, we’ll get to see the tandem in a heartbreaking drama – a challenge especially to Empoy who’s less experienced in the genre. Alessandra shares that after reading the script, she Immediately called Sigrid and jokingly asked, “Direk, acting piece ito ha. Kaya ba ni Empoy?”

Empoy’s acting coach is none other than Golden Globe nominee Dolly De Leon

Director Sigrid Bernardo asked none other than Golden Globe and BAFTA nominee Dolly De Leon to coach Empoy Marquez for Walang KaParis. Dolly also stars in the film that was shot both in Paris, France and Baguio City.

Walang KaParis shows a different side of Paris

Instead of the tourist attractions that Paris is famous for, the movie is set in Paris’ lesser known spots. Inspired by her friends who lived in Paris, Director Sigrid Bernardo wanted to show the parts of the city that people don’t usually see.

Walang Kaparis: The #AlEmpoy Comeback We're All Waiting For

Are you ready for more #AlEmpoy? The uncanny love team is making a comeback with Walang Kaparis, from the same writer and director of Kita Kita, Sigrid Andrea Bernardo!

Walang Kaparis stars Alessadra de Rossi and Empoy Marquez. We sat down with the two, along with direk Sigrid, to spill the tea on their upcoming film. Don’t worry, there were no spoilers from this interview!

How was making Walang Kaparis different from Kita Kita?

Direk Sigrid shares that the story for Walang Kaparis had huge leaps from how Kita Kita was written. Since Alex and Empoy didn’t know each other yet, Kita Kita emphasized friendship while the new movie amps up the romance and focuses on the relationship of its main characters. Ever since their previous collaboration, the two have gone closer and direk Sigrid says there are things about their bond that they needed to unlearn in order to portray their roles in Walang Kaparis.

Alex sees that the movie being released on a streaming platform like Amazon Prime Video is a positive thing: people from around the world can watch it. Empoy adds that online streaming helps viewers save money as the whole family can enjoy the movie using just one subscription.

Is there any pressure to outdo Kita Kita?

Direk Sigrid admits that the success of Kita Kita is something they just had to embrace–no matter what they do, Walang Kaparis will always be compared with the pairing’s first film together. She prioritizes telling a good story and letting the actors showcase their talent instead of letting herself be swayed by the pressure to make a bigger hit.

How did Alex and Empoy prepare for their roles?

Alex says that her initial reaction after seeing the script was to call up the director and express her concern over Empoy’s skill level to perform the role. Empoy jokes by feeling the same way as he says, “Kaya ko ba?” (Can I do this?) Direk Sigrid funnily confirms the truth of the story and tells us that that’s exactly how it happened. The two revealed an interesting fact: internationally-acclaimed actress Dolly de Leon, who was also in the film, helped coach Empoy behind the scenes.

If there’s one line from the movie you want everyone to remember, what would it be?

Direk Sigrid answered right away, “Atiklaham”. We’ve seen this mentioned in the trailer and she elaborates: that if you are falling for someone and you’re not ready to say “I love you” yet, you can say it in reverse until the time comes that you are.
