ALEXANDER SCHMORELL
THE WHITE ROSE
Schmorell was born in Russia, and move to Germany when he was aged 4. He attended Munich University where he co-formed the group the White Rose, who were against the Nazi regime.
During the Nazi era he was called into the Germany Army. He studied medicine in 1939. In Munich he became friends with Han Scholl and the White Rose was formed. The group released anti-Nazi leaflets. It was Schmorell who wrote against the Holocaust. He was against the Nazi treatment of enemy soldiers and civilians. After the arrest of Hans, Sophie Scholl, and Christoph Probst, Schmorell attempt to flee to Switzerland but was arrested. The People's Court run by the Nazis sentenced him to death. In prison he wrote to his family that he was at peace and did not fear death. On 13 July 1943, aged 25, he was executed by guillotine at the Munich Prison.
