Something bizarre coming SOON. #CletusAndRoscoe . . . #DanFranklin #AlexanderSuarez #indiefilmmaking #guerillafilmmaking #supportindiefilm
“He’ll buy me a thorn before he’ll buy me a rose. Be covered in dirt before I’m covered in gold”
Alexander SUAREZ is thirty-six years old. He/him is the owner of Extra Mile Auto Shop.
☆ PAST
Things never came easily for Alex the way they seemed to for people around him. His family life was more like a montage of different foster homes and families ranging from fine to horrifying at their worst and he never could seem to settle into a family for longer than a couple of years at a time. By the time he was sixteen he’d given up on the idea of having a family in his corner and he took to finding his own version of family in his friends. School always made him feel stupid because he didn’t learn things as quickly as his peers seemed to. His difficulty would later be diagnosed as dyslexia but by the time anyone cared enough to ask what was making school so hard for him it seemed too late. He wasn’t getting into college with the grade he’d had up until that point and he couldn’t have paid for it if he did anyway.
Alex began working in the garage of one of his neighbors after school while he was finishing up high school. The older man taught him everything he knew about cars and even threw life lessons in from time to time. He was the closest thing to a father Alex had ever encountered. At first he pushed the man and his advice away, not wanting to open himself up to disappointment, but eventually he found a way past the brick wall Alex built between him and the outside world and he became something of a mentor. He was the only reason Alex never fell in with the gangs in his neighborhood and he was the main reason why he never tried drugs and would never drink more than a beer or two at a party. He’d become someone Alex wanted to make proud and never let down.
As it turned out, Alex was naturally good at one thing and that was machines. Cars, bikes, kitchen appliances, you name it. If it could be taken apart and put back together he could figure out exactly how it was done and he could make it better than it was before. He quickly took to the work at the garage and he soaked up everything he could possibly learn but there wasn’t enough work for him and his mentor who owned the place to live off of and Alex soon started to feel bored. His first instinct was to mess around in his free time and he worked his way through many of the women who would come to the garage for real work but would be swept up by his charm and want some sort of extra service off the clock. It was one of the only things that kept him entertained as the days grew slower.
☆ PRESENT
Although he was enjoying himself and his new after work activities, Alex knew he would run out of things (and people) do do soon enough. He did a little research and realized there was a small town somewhat nearby that didn’t have a mechanic or auto shop already. With the money he’d saved up from the time he’d started working part time, Alex purchased an abandoned shop and converted it into damn near the auto shop of his dreams. He was the only mechanic in town for his first five years of business and that pushed his shop into success and the word seemed to spread. Soon he was hiring new mechanics to work under him, people to work the front desk, and it was running like a well-oiled machine, pun intended.
This freed Alex up to help with some of his neighbors’ mechanical issues at home. When his schedule allowed it, he’d make house calls to fix ovens, microwaves, pretty much whatever was broken that he could figure out how to fix. He has become a staple of the Serenity community but his affinity for housewives and after work activities didn’t exactly disappear. His life was on track but he still grew bored from time to time and his bad boy streak didn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.
The Role of Alexander SUAREZ is played by Manny Montana and is currently TAKEN.
