It helped that the mc shown was Asian, and that Blaine was white!blaine on the cover, it made this edit EXCEPTIONALLY easier.

"Your mom's political analyst states that Rutherlandians want improved relations with Esherstein" is a statement from the wiki, and you can interpret it however you want. I interpret it as Etherstein & Rutherland have a rocky-neutral relationship, good enough where there's trade but bad enough that there isn't much else to go on besides allies for convenience (but could quickly turn to enemies if one wrong move happens between either).

I also hc that Melissa & Dimitri low-key don't fuck with eachother one bit (and their kids respectively), and only approved of Alexei & Francesca being together because it was a PR stunt. (Then it isn't, and Melissa & Dimitri have to mentally prepare for seeing eachother far more often, and their sons on social media trending).

Melissa doesn't like Alexei with Frenchie because he's seen as egotistical in the media and just... Like those jocks you see in TV. Dimitri doesn't like Fran with Lyosha because he seems far to soft and gentle for his son and thinks Lyosha would be better off with someone with Alexei's same attitudes and such if he had to date.

Probably make petty or catty comments across the dinner table every hour and AleSca look at eachother like "I'm so sorry about my parent, they aren't usually like this".

So. I've been replaying a few choices books and some thoughts on them.

So, they show us Ayna (a love interest), Alexei and Evelyn (one of whom we fake date) and give us the option to call them hot. This just proves the point that Alexei or Evelyn were originally meant to be love interests. The angst, the pining. The potential.

So my options are:-

The boyfriend of the incredibly hot and incredibly mean woman who hates me

A Xerox copy of The thief captain from the elementalists

A Walmart Damien Nazario with none of the charm

A guy who has the personality of a tissue paper and

A girl who's the most solid friend you could ask for, is your personal stylist and over-all badass.
