Examine! Alexi

the pokémon you look out over is your partner dragonite, alexi. you've known her since she first hatched out the shell, watching how the other dratini were bold and boisterious knowing their heritage within the clan like they've been told it for decades, yet she stayed far away from the rest of the crowd, tiny and shy behind her mother and dragon matriarch, zide.
you've been through thick and thin together. she was beside you as that shy dratini throughout most your gym challenges, evolving into dragonair to rescue you while you got swept away by a flood trying to save another pokémon from meeting its end (the opposite of when you saved her the day you chose to be her partner), and once again into dragonite when you finally challenged your uncle to claim the eighth badge. she's always had your back, as you've always held your trust in her, and it's a bond which runs deep to this very day.
you owe a lot of your personal growth to her. dragons are difficult to train, to raise, stubborn as they are fearsome; but not alexi. you had to learn to be patient with her, to encourage and nurture her, as she slowly began to trust you and to fully come out of her shell. you're certain had it not been for her you likely never would've learnt how to be compassionate or patient.
she's come far, too. on the battlefield she's a completely different beast. she's confident, even a little arrogant, and her hyperbeam isn't something to laugh at. it's such a stark comparison seeing her now, playing with the new generation of blackthorn dragons, caring for them as a mother would... she picked that up from zide. just like you, she would take on any lost child as her own, and would raise it the best she can.
alexi is your best friend. and you two are matching reflections of each other.
