“Finn, I’ve been thinking.”
“Oh, that never ends well.”
“Hey! I’m being serious!”
Finn planted a kiss on Charlie’s forehead in apology, settling down beside her on the sofa. “Okay, I’m all ears.”
Charlie sighed, shuffling around on the sofa so she was facing Finn. “Well, I’ve been thinking, it’s nice just the two of us, but I can’t help wanting...more.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, a baby. I know you’ve always wanted kids. I didn’t used to, but I do now.”
“But, we can’t have kids.”
“I know, that’s where I was going with this. I was thinking, what if we asked someone to be a surrogate for us. The baby would still be ours, genetically, and we could actually have that.”
A huge smile broke out on Finn’s face. “You’re sure about this?”
Charlie nodded in response. “I’m sure.”
“But, wait. Can we afford this?”
“I’ve done some research, we can. We can go over it though, be absolutely sure this is what we both want.”
Finn wrapped her in a hug, a few happy tears escaping from the corners of his eyes.
🎶
A falling star fell from your heart and landed in my eyes
I screamed aloud, as it tore through them, and now it's left me blind
The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart

That Friday evening, the pair headed into town to meet up with Alexia, and the three settled in a bar in Windenburg Old Town. They laughed and chatted for a while, Alexia and Finn taking every opportunity to embarrass each with teenage stories in front of Charlie. Before long, Finn moved the topic of conversation into Lexi’s love life. She looked at him with a curious smile, leaning forward.
“Actually, I’ve been meaning to ask you… Do you still have contact info for any of the other people that were on the Bachelor with you two?”
Finn looked at her quizzically, trying to figure out what she was asking.
“Yeah, most of them. Why?”
“Erm, I was thinking about asking out Gemma. We hit it off really well when we met and i don’t know, she seems cute…”
Finn’s grin was as wide as his face. “Someone has a crush!”
“Okay….maybe. But it can’t hurt to ask, right? So, will you get in touch with her for me?”
“Of course, Lex. Honestly, I would love it if this were to work out.”
Pumpkin patch fun and a double dinner date
for context here: Caden is the redhead guy, Jasmine is the redhead girl, they’re not related though, and Alexia/Lexi is the girl with the blue hair.
“So, Jasmine. Who was the guy that was talking to you at lunch the other day?” Finn nudged his friend playfully. She shoved him back, laughing in embarrassment
“Erm. Just someone in my film class. Why, you jealous?”
Alexia piped up this time. “Of course he’s not, you idiot. He’s actually in love with me.” She leaned forward and giggling, batting her eyelashes at Finn in a comic fashion.
“Lexi, that was not at all convincing. You’re too gay to ever pull that off on a guy.” Caden grinned, tucking his knees up to his chest to avoid a kick from Lexi.
“Guys, guys,” Finn straightened up, trying not to burst into laughter. “There’s enough of me for all of you to love, okay.” He stood up and grabbed the girls’ hands. “Okay, now let's get out of here before the sun sets completely and this place turns into the freaking arctic.”
DINNER WITH FRIENDS
Later that evening, Finn’s best friend Alexia and his mum, Bria, came to visit. Whoever Finn ended up with would be getting to know these two pretty well, so for Finn is was essential that they get along. All of the contestants took well to the visitors, and they spent a happy few hours chatting together.
