Iriri Art Exhibition: Oluwole Omofemi Debut Solo Exhibition Shows at Alexis Galleries
Oluwole Omofemi a Nigerian artist would be showing his art exhibition at Alexis Galleries. This is Oluwole Omofemi’s first solo exhibition of paintings and it is titled Iriri (which means experience). Iriri will be showing at Alexis Galleries from the 4th of May to the 11th of May 2019. The Alexis Galleries is located in Victoria Island Lagos.
About Oluwole Omofemi
Oluwole Omofemi is a Nigerian artist, who expresses himself in acrylic and oil paint. He grew up in Ibadan and is often inspired by his childhood experiences. Women and children are often at the centre of his work. He has a passion and concern for underprivileged children in society and uses his work to share that passion. Oluwole Omofemi’s work also resonates his deep appreciation of African fashion, rediscovery of forgotten hairstyle and Afrocentric pride. He is also inspired and interested in historical themes and it can be seen in his work.
About Iriri Art Exhibition
According to Oluwole Omodemi Iriri is an art exhibition that focuses on the different life stages such as childhood, adolescent stage, adulthood and old age. The exhibition would focus mainly on the basic life stages in the female gender has to go through. He plans to focus on adolescent/puberty stage in the female gender. He is inspired by this stage because he believes the stage is very interesting and intense. It is the stage where a woman begins to develop into a woman and becomes more conscious of her physical appearance.
He would like to capture this stage with his paintings at the exhibition. Apart from the different life stages of women, Iriri will also be depicting everyday occurrences. It will seek to correct social vices that are vast spreading in society. With the exhibition, he aims to deploy the influence of visual art to better the lot of children and revived the neglected beauty of African fashion.
