Alexornis is an Enantiornithine known from a very fragmentary skeleton about the size of a sparrow. It was thought to be a member of Neornithes at the time of its discovery, but the original describer had reversed the bones that would indicate whether it was an Enantiornithine - opposite bird - or Euornithine - true bird. Upon further examination, it was rightly assigned to the Enantiornithes. lived in the Bocana Roja Formation of Baja California, Mexico, and lived about 73 million years ago, in the Campanian age of the Late Cretaceous. It shared similarities with South American Enantiornithes such as Martinavis and Elbretornis.
