Alex Tanous was truly a Renaissance Man: mystic, scientist, self-taught artist and musician, paranormal investigator, super psychic, writer and lecturer. A man very much after my own heart given we studied the same things at university: philosophy, education and anthropology. He also received degrees in sacred sciences and counseling and obtained a Doctor of Divinity. He worked with Dr. Karlis Osis at the American Society of Psychical Research for many years. I especially love this exchange he had with a reporter during a 1983 OBE experiment at the ASPR: Reporter: Is the mind so powerful that it can survive the moment of death? Alex: To me, yes. It's so powerful because it needs in itself to survive, as much as it needs to think, as much as we need to learn. To me...we're just going back to the fulfilment of what mankind was at the very beginning...a transition that we've been going through and returning to immortality. Now that all disciplines like physics, medicine, psychology -- all of them are agreeing that it's no longer a fantasy, that a real experience takes place. And to me, it is a religious experience; a spiritual experience. (Regarding healing people): So the energy is there; and it's a physical energy, but it's a spiritual energy. Reporter: How do you explain all of this? Alex: Well, to some people (it's) very hard. I would say I'm in the heart of God. And we all are, and we haven't seen it. The power that we have is stronger than any power there is. Reporter: By harnessing the power of our minds? Alex: Yes.
