I found another interesting designer called Alex Trochut I knew before.

His typography work of old TV test screens is an interesting attempt of creating typography. I like the way how he developed his first alphabet into a second one, what has a “glitch” effect.

I am quite fascinated with what artists and designers come up with. There are endless sources to get inspired by!

It is now time to introduce our Guest Curator of the week @trochut! Alex Trochut was born in 1981 in Barcelona, Spain. After completing his studies at Elisava Escola Superior de Disseny, Alex established as a freelance in Barcelona before relocating to New York City. Through his design, illustration and typographic practice he has developed an intuitive way of working that has resulted in his expressive visual style. For Alex, typography functions on two hierarchical levels. First, there is the image of the word we see; reading comes secondary. As a designer, Alex focuses on the potential of language as a visual medium, pushing language to its limits so that seeing and reading become the same action and text and image become one unified expression. Mixing styles and genres and drawing equally from pop culture, street culture, fashion and music, Alex has created design, illustration and typography for a diverse range of clients: Nike, Adidas, The Rolling Stones, Katy Perry, BBC, Coca-Cola, Pepsi, The Guardian, The New York Times, Time Magazine and many others. Alex’s work has been internationally recognized, appearing in in exhibitions and publications worldwide. He has given talks and been honored by the Art Directors Club––including being named a 2008 Young Gun––the Type Directors Club, Creative Review, Cannes, Clio and D&AD among others. His monograph, More Is More, published in 2011, explores his working methodologies and influences. Alex currently lives and works in Brooklyn. Alex Trochut - Artist research

Alex Trochut is a graphic designer, illustrator and typographer who was born in 1981 in Spain, Barcelona. He currently is based in Brooklyn which is where he creates his work. He had a studio that he used to work at in Barcelona but them he relocated to New York.  

As a designer Alex concentrates on showing language as a visual medium. He wants to push language to its limits so that seeing and reading something become the same action. He wants text and image to become one combined expression.

He has worked with a wide range of clients in music, fashion, and editorial and beyond. He does work from developing visual language for huge brands like The Rolling Stones, Arcade Fire and Vampire Weekend to even communicating new products and direction for companies like Nike, British Airways and Coca Cola and even developing work for publications like The New York, The Guardian and Esquire UK. With all this projects Alex want to create original, unique and distinctive designs, illustrations and typography.

Alex has been honoured and awarded for his great work in design and typography by experts in the industry like the Type Directors Club and Communication Arts. In 2008 Alex was recognized for his inventive lettering style.

He has created album artwork for huge superstars like Katy Perry. The work he creates really stands out as he uses bright colours like blue, yellow, red and pink etc. Using these colours is really good as it attracts the eye of the viewer just like mine. He creates things that are very different and not typical art; it’s very unique and inventive. His is defiantly a perfectionist as all his typography and graphic design work is perfect and is at a very high standard.

One of the many things that I like about the work Alex creates is that he uses makes font based around the pop art style and makes them his own by giving the font a fresh and contemporary look. Alex said in an interview that his biggest inspirations are the people that are around him but also pop artists like Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol.

No pudo haber un mejor momento para conocer sus diseños que cuando necesitaba un poco de inspiración. Desde entonces, no aspiro a nada menos.
