Guild Wars 2 Friend/Ships 2019

It was May of 2014, and there was a roleplaying event in Kessex Hills regarding the Nightmare Tower and dealing with the aftermath. Naturally, I attended, bringing my main character, Aleyanna Denton. And at that event, I struck up a conversation with another character, Renita Cartwright. And that has led into an epic series of events and such that continues to this day.

On the roleplaying side of things, our cast of characters have interacted with each other and the world as it has changed over what now feels like forever and a day. We’ve gone through triumphs and tragedies, joy and sorrow, and each moment has definitely been one that always feels wonderful no matter the circumstance.

From March of 2017. We had White Mantle characters who just caused chaos. They weren’t long for this world, but it was definitely fun to play the villain in an event chain.

A joyous occasion. My brunette mistologist asura Mixxa and her blonde asura Flixxa finally tie the knot.

Hard to really caption this one, but you could say that Aleyanna and Minthe are planning something. Exactly what is known only to the two of them.

But it’s more than roleplaying in Guild Wars 2 that brought us together. We still share a common guild in the Rurikton Roses where antics are a plenty. In a good way, mind you. But we’ve also gone through each major release together ever since A Crack In The Ice. Sometimes we have to wait to be able to sync up tackling the episodes, but we’ve taken in all the experiences together. And yes, we both feel the emotions of the living world, good and bad.

@meetthejamesons, thank you so much for, well, everything. We have gone through so much in Tyria, and there’s still plenty more now and in the future that can be tackled. May our adventures always be fulfilling and enjoyable.

Shaken and Baking

Hiding away in the back room of the Desert Rose, the silvery haired Magister moved about hurriedly. With Nathan’s blessing, she was attempting to keep her promise of making Aleyanna’s birthday cake while coping with everything that had been told to her about the events that had transpired in Rata Novus, and in Draconis Mons.

Everything Adriwyn had told her about the identity of the false Mursaat had been true, but something about it still bothered her. There was too much to cope with in such a short time, and too little information available for them to be able to confirm anything. Thankfully, the debriefing at Fort Trinity had only lasted until the early afternoon, giving her plenty of time to bake, a task she always found relaxed her and gave her time to sort through her thoughts.

Scents of lemon filled the backroom, growing stronger as she withdrew the lemon cake and set the tray on the cooling rack. As much as she’d enjoy tasting her own creation, all she planned on doing was finishing the lemon-lime frosting and delivering it to the Denton-Cartwright house. Aside from her debriefing, she had orders to return the following morning, and right now she wanted nothing more than the company of her family to help her come to terms with everything that had happened while she had been out of touch with the world.

Mission Accomplished - For Once

Staggering home with Alex, not even able to use her personal pseudo-waypoint after having drained herself so much in healing Aleyanna, Adriwyn had some time to reflect. All right... Alex isn’t used to scout-type manoeuvres. At least you didn’t fuck that one up so badly that she got hurt, but... no! Enough of that while this drained! You know you’re already depressed, and that won’t help.

That line of thought just led her to seeing other bits of recent pain she’d caused. Reika’s disappointment and confusion when they didn’t seem to want her help on the mission, in particular. That dear, sweet lass... I need to stop visiting her at all. I’m no good for any of Myra’s sisters now, but her especially. Tears started to fall, but fortunately they were hidden inside her helm. Oh, gods, Myra, please don’t be dead!

As they walked across the Settlement to the estate, other memories kept flashing through her head. The slice and gurgling from Melinda’s blade on Aleyanna’s neck. Kissing Myra in the park before they’d agreed that, back then, they wouldn’t work. Kissing Myra good-bye just a few days ago, with no idea of how serious a good-bye that was. Flixxa attaching a cloth to Aleyanna’s neck to help stem the bleeding while she was channelling her limited healing abilities. Alex telling her that she was afraid of losing her. The one Blade whose name she never properly even learned lying dead on the floor because they’d been too slow in dealing with Melinda and being able to call in healers. The confusion of Tala’s yelling at her, then comforting her and telling her she deserved better. The anguished feeling of failure with the returned communication ring, without even a “get stuffed” note.

When they reached the estate, the doors were opened for them. Derek had been waiting for their return, even though he was supposed to be off duty. Suppose I can’t blame him... I am the source of his paycheck. That thought twinged at her conscience even as he eyed how she was walking and scooped her up, not listening to any arguments from either woman. That’s hardly fair to the poor man - he does care. Six only know why, but he does. She overheard his call on their MMT command channel, getting Valeria out of bed. For that, she managed to stir herself to protest on the same channel. <No! Alex can help me out of my armour, and neither of us is injured. I had to do too much healing, but we’re fine. Really.>

As that all wound down and they were starting to settle in, she got another report, this time from Alyssia. <You still awake, dearie?>

<Aye.> She didn’t bother to hide how tired she was. The older woman was well aware of it already.

<Orchid is on her way to us with Denton’s hand. I won’t know until she’s here with it whether it’s truly salvageable, but she found it. We’re getting her settled here in Vanguard for now. Get your rest, you over-achieving dear, and we’ll talk more on the morrow.>

She wanted to argue - to be informed, to help, to take action. But she also knew better, and exhaustion quickly claimed her.

I know you were looking forward to having me at your Wintersday gathering, but something has come up and I don’t think I’m going to be able to make it. If you’re still having it, I want to make sure that it’s a somewhat happy time, and having me there would only ruin the mood and risk causing the very drama that you and Aleyanna are hoping to avoid.

Please don’t worry, and try not to be upset. Just take care of Aleyanna, I think she’s having as rough a time as I am with everything happening. Give Amelia and Cameron my love, and I really hope you all love your gifts.

Wintersday Gifts for the Denton Family

As the presents had seemingly appeared under the tree for the Cartwright’s, so they too had appeared under the same tree for the Denton’s. On the wrapping of each gift was a handwritten tag to the members of the Denton family from Alexandria and her family.

Aleyanna, yes I asked your cousin for help on your gift but I still think it turned out beautifully and I hope you like it. Gods know you deserve a small mountain of treasures for what you’ve had to put up with this year, but I’ll just start with one token of appreciation. From, Alexandria, Mirex, Adriwyn, and Caroline.

Resting in a wooden box beneath a thin layer of snowflake patterned wrapping paper was a beautifully handcrafted handgun. Made for the Operative by her cousin in hopes of capturing everything the woman looked for in a firearm.

Dawn, I hope that you find this book as interesting as I did when I stumbled upon it and thought of you. - Alexandria, Mirex, and Adriwyn.

Wrapped in a silver colored silk cloth and bound with a sapphire colored cord was an antique tome. Despite its nearly two hundred years of age, the leather was still well cared for, showing only a few signs of wear and tear. Inside the front cover, the words ‘Sohelia of the Zaishen Order’ can be found. Reading the brief entry on the following page, it could be discovered that the tome was the autobiography of a Necromancer who was a member of the Zaishen Order on the Battle Isles.

Nikki, we know how much you love airships, so I hope this gift bring you hours of entertainment. -Alexandria, Mirex, and Adriwyn.

Nikki’s gift, like Aleyanna’s, was wrapped in the snowflake pattern wrapping paper. Only the box was nearly the same size as the young progeny. Her gift was a model pact airship, fully functional and controlled by a remote control which sat in the bottom of the box.

Victoria, you come from a proud race, a race that provided many essential tools that served the Pact well over the years. We pray you enjoy your gift and it brings you equal amounts of joy and pride. -Alexandria, Mirex, and Adriwyn.

The only thing distinguishing the cub’s gift from her sister’s was the tag on the box. Beneath the layers of wrapping paper and the container it came in, was remote control Charr car. Complete with loud, roaring engine and exhaust, it was a gift that was sure to amuse the cub and irritate her parents and neighbors.
