Alfred Watson, Kauri Pine
I do eventually get to the AH Reed Memorial Kaurai Park on my way back to Whangarei. This is a small park with excellent walking trails, known for the last remnants of a Kauri forest. I want to see these 500 year old sacred trees which once blanketed New Zealand. The entrance is through a shoe bath intended to destroy any dangerous foreign pathogens. The canopy protects a multitude of cacophonous birds. A wonderful stop.
