I’ve gotten quite a lot of positive feedback from my text posts so I decided to also write about my trip to Spain.
We decided to go in February since it’s quite a gloomy month with not much sign of spring in the near future, just to boost our spirits to endure the last few chillier months. Not that it really gets cold here in London, more like really annoyingly windy and rainy.
Hola!
I spent a lot of time in the nature and wandering around on the coast. We were staying in Bilbao but I bought a Barik card which allowed me to use public transport and take the train to nearby coastal areas. I really liked the area around Algorta.
It was my first time to see and touch the ocean (for some weird reason I haven’t been to the coast here in the UK yet). Most likely because I am a n00b and I spend my time overworking. I would love to have the time and resource to travel more, but I have had to work for every penny I ever had in my life, so in a way I perhaps appreciate it more when I can go somewhere. I guess it also means you have to go out of your comfort zone and when dealing with anxiety then that is hard to do. But on the inside I know I am an adventurer so I really have to boost my game and to overcome my fears.
A cherry tree after the rain in Algorta. A lot of these photos are pretty dark because I used reversal film but every now and then I love using it due to some cool effects.
There was actually a cat that was following me around that day.
I took this one especially for my friend who makes fun of me for only taking photos of cute cats. So here you go.
Here’s the famous Vizcaya Bridge. It is the world's oldest transporter bridge and was built in 1893, designed by Alberto Palacio, one of Gustave Eiffel's disciples.
This is Contradique de Algorta Light, in Getxo.
I just love the coast in Getxo. It’s such an elegant place with its old villas from the 1920s.
As I said before we stayed at an Airbnb in Bilbao so that gave me plenty of time to wander around the town.
Near our home, on my way to the Deusto station.
Underground.
An evening view when the sun was setting.
The Bilbao Guggenheim Museum was probably the best museum I have ever been to. It featured things from Mark Rothko, Clyfford Still, Jean-Michel Basquiat and had a Dali inspired huge spider sculpture in front of it.
The spider’s body had huge white eggs inside.
In the evenings we would walk around a lot and go try different restaurants. I had never in my life tried so many versions of octopus. It’s pretty tasty though.
Here’s my favourite shot of Getxo, Spain. Also reversal film. And fog.
