thinking about an Alias-esque AU that has spy!tommy who loses his (male) finance in the early days and so puts his heart behind a wall.
Buck is his friend (Will) who harbors (secret) feelings for him - and who Tommy is convinced is straight or simply won't let himself develop feelings for because friendship is safe but more is not. Chim could be the CIA handler (the only one who knows Tommy is a spy atm), and Eddie is the other friend (Francie).
it's been SO LONG since I've watched Alias but spy!tommy needs to return to the dash, so...
@martianbugsbunny @monsterstaybroken so I feel like there should be a father & son Sark and Trevor moment out of this but I just can't figure out what it should be ugh

An AU premise I made where Five gets out of the apocalypse after a couple of years, but travels back to 2016ish instead of 2019. So Luther breaks him out of the manor and Diego and Vanya sneak off with him and raise him. Premise has been written, one day I hope to write the full story.
This part really proves that it is my fluff au where everything works out. Sue me, it was cathartic to write.
Okay, so this continues for about three and a half years. Even Five seems to have forgotten that the end of the world is coming, because life is going well. Then one day, Five and Vanya come home from the university (Five is 18 at this point, the others are 29) and see on the news that Veggie died. Which means going back for the funeral.
They tell Ms. Robertson where they are going, call Eudora who agrees to let them stay with her if they pick up their stuff that she has been storing, and head back to their hometown. Eudora talks to them the night before the funeral, explaining how it was a heart attack of all things having looked at the coroner's report, but he was cremated and is really dead. She also adds that they had to shut down the prosthetic company she was keeping an eye on for them for black market selling so that lead is wiped out. She very carefully doesn't mention how young the brother who arrived with Diego and Vanya looks. It is also slightly unnerving for all three of them being home because they have gone by aliases for years so they aren't used to going by their actual names as much anymore.
Anyway, the three arrive at the house together before the funeral. Five looks absolutley nervous to be setting foot inside considering the last time he was here (also he may have put on a couple of inches but he is still very small, only like 5' 4"). But they get him in by promising that one of the two will be with always. (Vanya has had some self-defense lessons cause Diego was not about to just let her not be able to defend herself). Diego wants to go find Mom, but the three are stopped when they run into the Allison. She is absolutely shocked by the fact that Vanya and Diego are there together, but then she sees Five trying to hide behind Vanya and is absolutely flabbergasted by the fact that he is back and looks older, but not as old as the rest of them and is with these two. Diego just sighs and says it is a long story and would rather tell it once, so when the others show up they'll explain.
This is when Five spots the portrait that their dad hung up of him and freaks a bit. It clearly wasn't put up for good reason, but Vanya calms him a little by saying it was put up after he disappeared the first time.
Allison locates Luther and Klaus fighting upstairs, Klaus trying to snag a couple trinkets to sell for drugs, but she grabs him before he can run off and takes them downstairs to see Five. Klaus is also shocked to see Five before turning to Diego and demanding to know if this is why he vanished and he has been having the weird lady detective on his tail for three years. Klaus and Allison are also surprised to find that Luther knew Five was back already, although Five is as shocked as everyone (except Vanya) by Luther's size. So they sit down and explain what happened, how Luther got Five out and to Vanya, then Vanya went to Diego, and the three left town to avoid Veggie and help Five. And it worked. (None of them know that after Five disappeared, Veggie assumed he timetraveled again and wrote him off.)
They hold the funeral, Luther finds the box on Klaus before he can sell it, so that never falls into anyone's hands. The will is dealt with and Vanya, Diego, and Five go home, this time with the stuff Vanya and Diego abandoned last time. Five isn't obsessed with the apocalpyse like he was before because he seems to have convinced himself that either it was a fever dream or stopping the eye from being made stopped the apocalpyse (Vanya and Diego aren't really sure which, but they ain't about to look a gift horse in the mouth). They end up agreeing to take Klaus with them if he agrees to get sober. Which he does (Vanya and Five still lock up their individual pills just in case for months after). Klaus is surprised to find they are going by aliases, but they say he doesn't have to since the reason why they did is dead, so he just goes by Klaus. Diego, who barely went by his alias first name anyway, ends up switching back to Diego after awhile and it is barely noticed. Luther ends up sticking around the mansion long enough to deal with selling the estate and getting Pogo comfortably settled somewhere (after the estate is sold, Grace goes to move with the other kids and they have by this point moved out of Ms. Robertson's building into their own place, so plenty of room). Then Luther takes off to LA to live near Allison who is doing her own restart to be a better mother to Claire. He starts boxing based off an off-hand comment from Diego and gets decently successful.
April 1st passes barely noticed. Klaus gets clean, eventually, (he ends up going to a long-term rehab center for awhile) and ends up with a job at Diego's gym at the receptionist desk. Five gets his associates degree at the community college, but is loath to leave Vanya and Diego (and Grace and Klaus) so he just continues university online and ends up teaching as well.
What about the commission you may ask? Well, once Vanya and Diego took off with Five, that got completely averting. The Handler got fired for losing the bomb and the mysterious boy and the commission was too preoccupied with tracking the new timeline that suddenly popped up. Yes, I'm running under the assumption that they never found them before they found a new apocalypse that worked better for whatever plans they had so they dropped the world ending of April 1st idea entirely.
Does anything ever happen with Vanya's powers? I dunno. Guess we'll find out if I ever write the damn thing. That is your motivation to get me to write this one.
Okay, people are wanting to hear my new AU. This starts angst but quickly devolves into fluff because this became a what if everything actually goes right scenario really quickly. I'm calling it the Aliases AU for reasons that will become clear eventually.
Five gets out of the apocalypse early after being there for a couple of years, but instead of landing on that day in 2019, he lands in 2015. This is after Luther's accident, but before he is sent off to the moon. Luther is still recovering from his own body changes, but he would be blind to not notice the blue portal that appears in the courtyard. He is still bed-bound so he doesn't see what happens and when he tries asking Pogo or Grace for answers, they just wave it off saying his father was handling it. Luther even starts to wave it off as a freak phenomenon, but he hears screeches echoing through the house one night.
The next day, Veggie Trauma says that he is sending Luther on a long-term mission now that he has recovered to the moon to watch for threats. Veggie does everything he can to stress the importance of the mission and of course Luther is all for it. The screeches come back the next night though, and Luther starts investigating what it could be. Here is where the AU can easily go one of two ways. Someone remind me to do a version where Luther never finds the source of the screeches because there is potential there.
In this version though, he does find the source. Down in the long abandoned special training rooms, there is a boy restrained in a straightjacket. He is passed out, definitely a lot thinner and looks exhausted. But beyond that long stare the boy is giving the wall, Luther recognizes him as Five. He doesn't look all that much older than when Luther last saw him, running out of the dining room thirteen years ago. Why is he locked up downstairs?
Veggie catches Luther and spins some bs about how Five managed to successfully time travel but just like Veggie predicted, it messed with Five's mind and powers and of course now he is trying to protect him. Hurrah. Luther does buy it. Something in the back of his mind says if that is true, Five should be getting some real help, but Luther believes dads don't lie to their kids (i just watched the episode he says this so that is fresh fresh).
Then Grace something strange. She can't directly go against her programming, and by extension Vegetable, but she needs to do something. So she off-handedly mentions how she heard that family is good for a broken mind while helping him pack for his trip to the moon. Luther is very confused, but she just smiles and walks out. It takes Luther a couple days to piece it together, but apparently Mom wants Five out of the house. With their siblings? Luther has to go the moon, Mom surely knows how important his mission is, so that must be what she meant. Obviously.
Luther only has a couple days to get Five out before he leaves so he starts making calls. Neither Diego or Allison will pick up though and he has no idea how to get ahold of Klaus. That leaves Vanya. Luther vaguely remembers that Five always seemed closest to her and even though Vanya doesn't have any powers, maybe that is what Five needs. Someplace away from the craziness that is The Umbrella Academy. Just for a bit. Luther's mission isn't forever and he can check in when he gets back. This will all be fine.
Vanya picks up. She is very surprised to hear from Luther especially since Klaus and Diego have refused to speak to her since the book (she didn't speak to Allison or Luther before the book either). But Luther mentions Five is back and Veggie thinks the time travel messed up his brain, but Mom wants him to be with his siblings instead of at the Academy and Vanya is the only one answering, so would she be willing to take care of him cause Luther has a very important mission coming up and he doesn't want to delay it if someone else can take care of him.
Vanya is very confused, but agrees. She doesn't know why Luther appears to be going against Dad, but he seems to have reasoned himself into a spot where he can do the right thing and still be loyal to Dad and she gets Five back, so she isn't gonna look a gift horse in the mouth and just agrees. She tries to call Diego, but no answer. Fine, she knows where his boiler room is, she'll just show up there with Five for help. Cause as much as Luther seems to genuinely want to help, something is off. She needs backup.
The night Luther is supposed to leave for his mission is the night he breaks Five out. Five is passed out and non-responsive when Luther removes the straightjacket and bundles him in a jacket he found in the other room (it's Five's from the apocalypse. Veggie didn't move it that far). Five is light, too light, as Luther slips out with him. Grace catches them, but just gives him a sad smile as they slip away. Vanya meets Luther at Griddy's. She convinced a friend from the orchestra to let her borrow their car claiming her family was having issues and they agreed. Vanya is surprised by the appearance of both boys. Luther is obviously very large and awkward as he puts a small boy into the backseat. He bids her a quick goodbye before he is gone again, off to his mission that he seems determined is extremely important. Vanya turns her attention to Five. He is small, smaller than she remembers. In her memories, he was always larger than life, the only one who could really inspire anyone else to stand up to Dad. And now he looks too thin, too small, bundled up in an oversized coat. It looks like he was gone both no time at all and a whole lifetime.
“Do you even know who you’re working for?” He taunted.
She wiped a smear of blood from her lip. “Don’t worry, we’re the good guys.” Spying a workbench nearby, Rey picked up a screwdriver to use as a weapon. This man was relentless.
“I wouldn’t be so sure about that.”
Alias AU: Rey is an agent with SD-6, a secret branch of the CIA. But a chance encounter with the mysterious agent Kylo Ren could send everything she knows crashing to the ground. Could she be working for the very enemy she thought she was fighting?
