4. Which of your fics this year was most successful?

i guess this one could mean either in the reception it got, or how well i feel like i executed it?

but the answer for both is a controlled burn ♥ when i started writing it i never could’ve thought i’d end up with a complete 100k story, and i definitely didn’t expect the insanely kind reception it’s gotten and how many friends i’ve ended up making through it. 

sometimes i just go look at that last chapter completely gobsmacked at the lovely comments and the fact that it exists at all 😂

8. Which fic this year was most fun to write?

the research-heavy chapters of acb and safs are real peaks -- all the road trip stuff, and white sands, and even this latest chapter of safs in the owl cafe. 

but for consistently pure + most fun i think i’ll have to go with my little kim one shot they do go see the dead chimp, which i started purely because i wanted to use that title. 

everything in it surprised me -- the vibe i ended up with, the direction kim’s thoughts took. i also wrote the whole thing listening to chinatown by bleachers w bruce springsteen on loop because @agentdanascully was nice enough to send it to me and tell me it reminded her of the white sands trip, so that was really damn awesome.

ieruhgiuers i’m still dying over the show having q magically create that queen of hearts card with alice’s face cause like?? even when they know that relationship is over they’re still framing alice in a quasi-romantic (???) content with him. i’m 

choose literally any other suit of cards if you gotta do that moment, my dudes

i know!!! like, i get that it was a reference to the books, but didn’t they already use up all of the quentin/alice book content? aren’t we well past that? 

and like.......they literally beat down on alice and made quentin do this ooc bs just to set it up so that they could “close the book” on alice and quentin. which they could’ve done by having him close the book and ask her to stay and help? by telling her he understands why she did what she did, now, because he regrets everything they did to bring magic back?

i’m also just like, really irritated that they had quentin be all indignant about her killing plover because he’s literally and genuinely said the exact opposite belief in earlier seasons? like that was one of my fave things about quentin bc he was always unswervingly like “yes fanboy time is done now; don’t fucking talk to me, you monstrous piece of shit” re: plover once he found out the truth

all of this in the service of establishing that alice is Not A Threat To QueliotTM

which they could’ve done by giving her another love interest or another human to talk to of literally any non-awful and/or non-Quentin kind but whatever
