Something something blackout after monster of the week, something something they’re trying to find the others and their flashlight runs out of battery. I imagine this could be the first time he sees her like this, but it would be kinda silly to find out she can do that this way.
Got inspired by @infini-tree‘s posts and Edith’s alien design. Thought it would be a fun scenario to draw! (though it probably doesn’t fit perfectly with the sticky notes au, idk)
it’s more like extra stuff I forgot to put into the first two plus some extra stuff
also thanks to @rabbitybabbity for letting me borrow her name for the species, Xaxions.
If I remember more stuff I’ll make a 4th master post
Xaxions can see in the dark quite well, sudden/bright flashes of lights tend to daze/blind them. Given enough time they can adjust to changes in lighting pretty well.
I’m retconning the part about them being vulnerable to hot temps and switching it to they’re vulnerable to cold temps. Sharp changes in temperature are particularly potent on them. They grow sluggish and likely form ice/frost on their tentacles/arms. They’re vulnerable to frost bite.
Due to being able to sense electrical currents etc, strong electrical and magnetic machines etc tend to have adverse affects on them. Kind of like sensory overload I guess? It could leave them stunned/paralyzed depending on how strong it is.
While they are mainly carnivores, they can eat fruits, vegetables and carbs/grains but won’t get the same nutritional value.
They can probably grow some degree of their arms back.
Government section ahoy!
The Xaxion have an empire and there’s probably some degree of hierarchy going on.
Names traditionally have at least one ‘X’ in there. Traditionally, those hailing from a higher social class have their names end with a vowel, while those born from a lower social class have their names end in a Consonant.
While there is a quota of how many of a certain type of occupation they need filled, for the most part, Xaxions are allowed to choose theirs.
They have a rather dedicated section of their populous in areas such as Military and Science, with Military being the favored of the two due to their expanding colonization.
Your version of Alien! Edith was so cute. It also made me think that if all the DW films shared the same universe, then I could see a crossover with Home. She'd probably get along with Oh pretty well. They'd probably make good friends and she'd like his quirky nature.
Thanks to @rabbit-kinder for helping me with the ideas and listening to literal days worth of babble
Alien!Edith’s people are amphibious, having evolved in the water first and then moving onto dry land. I’m sticking with book 3 lunch lady appearances cause less designing for me. They come from an Octopus like ancestor.
They’re a pretty new species/civilization. Their home planet had like two and were forced out/pushed out into space.
Alt idea: They were taken as a normal animal species, domesticated/altered and used as like intelligent servants? (think Pearls from SU). In this, they revolted after deciding they didn’t want that anymore.
anyway, they traveled through space and found Earth from Voyager 2. It’s also where they learned how to look human. They also picked up a lot of human tv/radio signals and learned a lot.
They can shapeshift, although this is tiring and time consuming. A well passing shift, like Edith’s requires a lot of experience/talent.
They take to swimming naturally like humans take to crawling and walking. Likewise they need to learn how to walk well like humans
They’re a curious species, although they don’t know how to ‘play’ nice because they did just escape/get exiled.
They want to take over Earth because it’s like 70% water and they can use ‘zombie nerd’ humans as workers, not unlike how they (may or may not have) started out as. Also they’re afraid of getting dissected which also plays a role. (they’ve seen Independence Day)
Breeding doesn’t outright kill them like their Octopus like ancestors (who die after mating, only do it once) After their first, their chances of dying after mating increases after that. They usually die after 3.
In their normal state they lay eggs probably.
All of their arms (technically the word tentacle is incorrect as it describes a different type of limb that Cephladpods have.) can move ‘independently’ to a certain extent. Their suckers have some degree of taste and grip.
They dislike hot and dry weather.
Electricity is more painful/lethal to them (hence dishwashing gloves)
They also dry out faster/more easily.
Color and pattern have meanings to them, and in their natural state display these. (like real octopods and Cuttlefish. Can u guess what my favorite animals are?)
Part 2 will be more Edith specific and less about her species. Had a lot of fun with this.
