Extended review coming to the website this weekend... The short, the long, the good, the bad 😎 The @aliengearholsters Shape Shifter is a unique arrangement for many of the more popular pistols on the market that allows the use to configure their holster daily as desired or needed all in 1 package that comes as a near complete kit, the starter pack. $100 typical street price and for essentially 4 holsters in 1, do the math, that's a deal. Does many jobs fine but none of them great. Is fairly comfortable for wearing throughout the day even appendix as I predominantly did. A bit wonky to figure out at first but once you get it, you got it and transforming it around becomes easy. Parts fit and work together properly as designed but are not made of the best more durable materials out there and while I didn't have any issues personally I could see some potential fail points and have read of others experiencing exactly those same issues. After 2 weeks of wearing daily 10+ hours I had developed a mild rash. At first I called it up to my finicky skin issues but as it worsened and developed I began to realise it was more than just something new snuggly pressed to my skin for prolonged periods leaving a red imprint. After contacting Alien Gear and discussing it with them and then doing some reviews and investigation it turns out that their "externally sourced natural rubber" may in fact contain and in all likelihood be latex. To which I'm allergic. So the neoprene backing while comfortable and breathable and well stitched together in it's mesh backing and rubbery exterior side are a no go for me and if you too have a latex allergy, most likely a no can do for you as well. So I was given this Shape Shifter kit from @aliengearholsters to try out and test. Initial thoughts are: 1) interesting concept 2) comprehensive collection of carrying options, literally in 1 box 3) QC could be better, there was a cross threaded and thread locked screw in 1 of the necessary mounting blocks that had to be dealt with 4) assembly is like Legos, it all goes together sure enough but to achieve the desired result the instructions just aren't quite all up to par or clear enough, perhaps a little more information would be helpful. We will not promote products that we would not use ourselves. We are very proud of the integrity this provides. We will sell you (almost) anything but if it's shit, we are gonna tell you that it's shit. Like many of you we've used tons of different holsters. Still do use several depending on the situation. With that said we are big fans of @aliengearholsters. They however do not have dealer programs and only sell direct. Until now that is. Up till this point we've actually turned away business and sent people direct to #aliengear to buy holsters on many occasions. We contacted #aliengearholsters about this and are proud to be working with them to develop a dealer program that allows us to carry their products. While the program is still being developed we are now actually getting products in for customers on an individual basis. Super excited about this. As mentioned earlier we use what we recommend. The HMFIC here has pre-ordered one of their new #shapeshift holsters and a new #gunbelt to go with it. The holster will show up when they are ready but for now the belt came in, obviously it was needed by looking at the old leather strap that was holding his britches up. The #springsteel cored belt has already made all the difference in the world holding the pistol up high and nice and tight. Very happy with it.
