the night school episode has soo many interesting character dynamics and arcs. like that entire episode was so fucking good for setting up future character arcs and dynamics. scott and stiles at the beginning was perfect like always coming up with solutions together and either shooting the ideas down or coming up with different routes. along with that this is the first time that scott and stiles have had this many people in danger in one setting. they both continue to make plans but scott goes into a real leader role. he’s the one who everyone looks at when looking for answers about what’s happening (and then stiles starts to help him out with the janitor line and speaking up first along with continuing scott’s lie about it being derek that’s attacking them) they’re both working as a team and yet they still set apart scott and stiles. scott is the one to go out after the alpha and make the sacrifice to go get the keys and try to lead them all to safety. we have his arc about peter taking control and then having him come back to himself and saving the four in the chemistry lab. stiles helps scott out when the pressure is too much for scott. he’s allowed to be antagonistic towards their enemies and also punch jackson.

and then you have the other three. lydia who despite not knowing what’s going on and freaking out herself comes up with a plan. a plan that will eventually get used later and helps defeat peter even though she has no idea about it later on. her knowledge and wisdom was able to make the situation better. she hasn’t come to grasp yet how to not make herself look dumb though (making the comment of i read it somewhere). along with that she’s having problems with jackson and her feelings about him and his feelings surrounding her.

next we have allison who the whole episode was so confused and upset (which motherfucking valid) but she really doesn’t do much besides react. which sets up her problems with wanting to feel useful and not like a scared little girl. we see this already show up in the previous episodes however this episode showcases that she doesn’t want to be like this. she wants to feel in control, helpful, useful, and powerful. which all supports her arc in the continuing episodes.

then there’s jackson who just straight up is a dick the whole time. he’s making moves on allison while in a relationship, he’s nasty towards lydia his own fucking girlfriend, he gives lydia the wrong thing, and he’s smug even in a life or death situation.

it’s just overall an amazing episode to show how they’re all still children but also how they’re all developing. it shows you who they are and also who they could be. they’ve barley reached their potential but they’re all getting there.
