Alison,

Well, my secret is out and I’m incredibly ashamed. I don’t think that I can face you right now or for a while. I know that what I did was terrible. Absolutely awful. I put people in danger. You’re such a good person and I couldn’t stand the idea of disappointing you. I was heartbroken, but it still doesn’t excuse what I did.

I’ve loved you for a long time. Every time I’m around you, you bring out the best version of me. Yeah, I’m an asshole, but you make me less of one. I never made a move because you’re too good for me and because I’m so much older than you. Then you started dating Dave and I hoped it wasn’t serious, but then you got engaged and any small glimmer of a chance I had was over. 

After you broke up, you left, and I didn’t get a chance to talk to you about any of this. I don’t know if I would have, but I didn’t have the option anyway. Now that you’re back, things have been great, until this secret came out. Now... who knows.

The only thing I do know is that even after all this time, I’m still in love with you.
