Alix Combelle et le Jazz de Paris (1941). Charles Delaunay (1911-1983). Poster.

Combelle is depicted in this poster leading the Hot Club de France orchestra. From his parents, Delaunay inherited a strong artistic sense that he used to promote his various projects. He designed the Swing label and also various posters. This poster is not only a rare and wonderful jazz document, but also, it is surprising that in 1941 the occupying German forces would have allowed a poster with the words "Jazz" and "Swing."

13 juni 1938: in een Parijse studio speelde Oscar Alemàn mee tijdens een opname sessie voor het Swing Label. De opnames werden uitgebracht op drie 78 toeren platen onder de naam Eddie Brunner et son Orchestre. Muzikanten waren oa. Bill Coleman op trompet, Alix Combelle op tenor saxofoon en de Argentijnse Oscar Alemán op gitaar. Niet zo straf als zijn eigen solo-werk (check Russian Lullaby), maar niettemin een fijne vondst in één van de vele Emmaus depots in Frankrijk.
