"i'm awake." the words came out before alix even opened her eyes, half expecting to see the nurse that kept popping her head in to make sure she was listening to the advice not to sleep while they suspected she had a concussion. if that was the advice they were going to give then maybe they could dim the damn lights. however, the person that stepped into the room wasn't the nurse she was expecting. it was someone that she didn't expect at all. how hard had she hit her head when her car rolled? "—what are you doing here?"

wiping hastily at her eyes, alix pockets her phone and tries her best to pull herself together in order to turn and see who’s come out to join her on the balcony. she frowns when she realises it is in fact not one of her friends. in the back of her mind she’s sure that they just haven’t noticed; there are lots of people packed inside the tiny apartment and with all the drinking and hilarity going on, it’s not too surprising that she managed to slip away. or so she thought. “are you following me or something?”

“i don’t need a doctor.” though alix can appreciate they’re probably a valuable asset these days in wider communities. not that she’d ever want to bother with something like that. even if loneliness is eating her up inside she’s not stupid enough to get involved with a large group. she doesn’t want to think about the politics of it. she can’t think about anything right now though, instead focusing on the man ahead of her as he rambles on and on. “yeah. it’s mine.” her eyes scan over their surroundings but they never leave him for long. she can’t trust that he’s alone. what if he’s just the distraction when someone else sneaks up behind her? alix creeps closer to him, not lowering her weapon yet. “i think i’ll make the decisions here,” she insists, “you know. considering.” she doesn’t think she needs to state the obvious to him and that’s that she is the one with a gun pointed at him. “it is the middle of the forest and so i revert back to my first question, what are you doing out here? people don’t come through often.” none that she interacts with, at least. “are you with others?”

"what are you doing up so late?" preparing herself a glass of water from the kitchen, alix had only pivoted for a moment to see who was behind her. couldn't help but pull a face at the fact it was them since she'd hoped to see someone she actually cared to talk to. "everyone went to bed ages ago."

“i guess not, huh?” alix laughs, shaking her head slightly. food was supposed to be fuel for survival, or so she’d been taught, but when there was little else in the world to enjoy she didn’t think it hurt to have this one little thing. flavour. “maybe if you take some of the herbs with you, you can jazz up whatever you have.” she doesn’t know why she’s making suggestions to make their departure easier. she should be doing things to make it more difficult. she just can’t bring herself to.

the set is… insanely realistic, though alix supposes that’s what happens when they choose a location shoot. she doesn’t often follow the whole process through of watching a movie come to life. she’s been around for when other productions have needed script edits or wanted to make overall amendments but this is pretty new. she supposes it’s because she’s clicked with cain that she’s taken up his offer to see it all in action — and supposes it might be nice to see how she’s helped come to life. there’s just also something terribly eerie about it all too. “they always manage to make things creepier than i imagine them,” she mutters to him before sipping on her fifth? sixth coffee of the day? maybe that’s the problem. “don’t you think so?”

“you know dating her makes you look stupid, right?” alix has been the good friend. the supportive friend. she's bit her tongue. she's listened to their endless complaints and she gave advice. that all comes to and end now, though. “like, you keep putting up with the same crap over and over again. you let her walk all over you. it’s pathetic.”

alix's eyes flitted over their surroundings, flighty in their movements. she was trained to be calm. to assess a situation and then act. now she simply reacted. she panicked and put herself into situations before she had worked out how she could get out of them if she needed to. she didn't prepare for the possibility of this all being a rouse and her walking in to someone else's carefully executed plan. "are you alone?" she huffed out after a moment, figuring she had little choice but to trust his answer. "you can move... but make any sudden moves and i'll blow your head off." her effort to sound in control of the situation was definitely lacking but she tried to do her best as she shuffled in closer to him. "there's nothing out here for you. s'just me." revealing she was alone? something she scolded herself for internally the moment it left her lips. "what are you looking for exactly?"
