Being introduced to Star Trek by a superfan was a very weird experience. Like you're watching TOS and you're like ok this is a cool, campy, episodic shenanigans show. And halfway through one episode they explain to you that TOS was to fanfic, especially MLM fanfic, what the Velvet Underground are to all of punk music. And as you continue watching you understand why that is completely.
Weird queer people will always be the coolest people you'll ever meet. And the weirder and queerer, the better. But its interesting how, simultaneously, transphobic, exorsexist, and/or bigoted queer people will be the most insufferable people you'll ever meet.
Its like being hateful towards your own community immediately discards all the swag you could've had and makes you annoying beyond comprehension.
Just stretched my septum to 14G, now my mom and grandma are telling me not to stretch it...

I view Lou Reed's Berlin as beautiful the same way someone would view something like Romeo and Juliet as beautiful. Both being tragic, poetically written, and unique in their themes and story. Despite the narrator of Berlin being an abuser and the 'antagonist' of the story, I think the album has a lot to say about depravity, poverty, and moral ugliness.
