A day late, because I wouldn’t be me if I wasn’t! 🤪 At least I remembered my shirt again this year 😎 A little over ten years ago when these shows were announced, I had my heart set on seeing my favorite band play two nights at the iconic and endlessly gorgeous Red Rocks amphitheater right outside their hometowns. I was lucky to be able to make that dream come true- I had a VERY generous chauffeur drive me all the way from Pottsboro, Texas to Denver, Colorado and back (many thanks, Jared McKinney!!) It was a whirlwind trip filled with near constant freezing downpours, a plethora of amazing food, and absolutely exceptional core live music memories. I got to meet some of my best Fray friends of all time, and those two shows in May 2012 were a true highlight of both my personal live music and Fray concert experiences alike. I can’t even begin to explain how much I owe to the friends I’ve made through my love of this band - they’ve supported me through so much throughout the years. We’ve crafted multiple scrapbooks, drafted countless letters, and even managed to make the occasional baked good together, all for this band. What a ride it’s been. ❤️‍🩹 Tomorrow, almost 10 years to the day, an incredible number of us will meet again for what will be the last Fray show (with the main 4 members) as Isaac is taking his leave from the band after tomorrow’s show. I’m so thankful for the memories made at the #RedRocks shows 10 years ago, and I’m incredibly thankful that the final Waukegan show tomorrow is in the cards for me as well. And the tour is done! Thanks to all who came to our last show in West Kirby last night - another sell out! At the beginning of this tour, everything felt so uncertain, and getting to the end of a run of gigs without some kind of major disaster seemed like an impossible dream. We've been helped along the way by so many wonderful people, offering delicious meals, lovely accommodation, and help in a million ways. It has meant so much. Too many people to name here, but you know who you are, thank you. A serious round of applause is due to our booking agents, Amanda, Joy and Vicky at Firebrand, for battling through and rescheduling these gigs three or four times. Particular thanks to our amazing baby sitting grandma team, Barbara Henry and Gill Martin. It would have been completely impossible without their love, kindness, and bloody hard work! Legends. W H A T’ S • N E X T? | I was officially let go from my job Friday, due to COVD-19 & a petty guy who decided to be a dickhead. I’ve realized that change is inevitable and while I’m hopefully heartbroken, and terrified, I understand the necessity of it. I know that sounds odd, but it works in my head. I have largely chosen to remain silent, as I needed to process my sadness. By no means am I angry with my boss. She is a BOSS, a friend, a mentor... I am thankful for her kindness, and her love. I am so looking forward to see what her next chapter brings. ❤️ Still, I found myself foundering and my mind on OVERDRIVE... what do I do next? How will I make money? What if I’m homeless in three months time? what if? What IF?! WHAT IF!?! I had to shut my mind down, and focus on self care. So, I slept, I began another book, I made soup, had a massage, spent time with friends, and I’ve spent the whole of today in my jammies. It’s been wonderful. Now that the day is winding down, and a new week beckons, I’ve begun to dig my head out o the sand...slightly. While I keep putting off chores, I’ve been working on the shitty adulting stuff that I so love to avoid... I’ve been making lists, writing a budget, and I’ve begun to think about MY Next. Truth is, I’ve never allowed myself to look past the end of my nose. I may live in a dream land, but I’ve never allowed myself to formulate those dreams or plans. Steve said it best, though... love what you do, and never settle.
