This beautiful antique alligator bag made its way home last week! It was a family heirloom that I did a complete preservation & restore on. The client wanted only original pieces to stay with the bag. The only new item added was a zipper pull on the inside. Not pictured, forgot to snap a pic. Learned a lot about salt tanning, very very fun project! . The handle was unfortunately completely dry rotted & broken. I took it apart, repaired the break, and pieced the scales back together one by one. Added matching gold grommets to the handle for extra support. Matched the stain, resealed, & polished it up. Ground out dents & scratches from the metal & polished off decades of corrosion. Repaired ripped out seams. Detailed, conditioned, sealed, & polished exterior. Interior was in good shape, needed a simple cleaning and conditioning. The bag is completely functional but will be a display piece! . Swipe for before and after!
