Better Call Saul Season 3: “Sabrosito” Writer: Jonathan Glatzer Director: Thomas Schnauz “In a Better Call Saul season that travelled further into the world of Breaking Bad than ever before, “Sabrosito” showed the right balance of how to keep the Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) storyline intact and still flirt with “Breaking Bad: Origins” for a multitude of other characters. I’ll admit that I was very hesitant at the start of the season with the time the show was spending with Gus (Giancarlo Esposito) while lessening time spent with characters like Kim (Rhea Seehorn), but “Sabrosito” showed exactly how the two shows can be reconciled in one fantastic episode (which I wrote about more in-depth here). It was a taught, tense, twisty, and fantastically acted episode that shows the series at its best.” — Allison Keene

Collider: Better Call Saul Season 3 review Rating: ★★★★ Still one of TV’s best slow-cookers

“Better Call Saul has always been Bob Odenkirk’s showcase, even though the rest of the cast is fantastic. But there’s something about Jimmy that is so specifically spellbinding, both in his calculated charm and his vulnerability. Even with Breaking Bad encroaching, one shouldn’t be so quick want to leave Slippin’ Jimmy behind.” – Allison Keene

“Possession” created a reason and a space for Sir Malcolm, Ethan, Victor, and Vanessa to all come together under one roof for several weeks together. That allowed the characters to really settle in to the family dynamic that has been building all season. Ethan is the rebellious older brother, who is protective of his “siblings,” to the point of even threatening violence on their “father.” Victor is the needy youngest, who loves and respects father Malcolm, but also will side with Ethan on certain matters, ganging up with whomever is showing him the most attention. Vanessa is the troubled sister who everyone cares for, but they don’t know how to save.
