So I finally got around to reading The American(s) and I just... I have no words. It's 4am here and I'm a massive sobbing wreck. The ending sentence is my ultimate favorite-- don't think I can forget it. You are a brilliant writer and I just want to thank you for all your painfully beautiful and beautifully painful work.

Aha you’re welcome (for the pain). As noted, there has been Much Yelling at me over that, and it has stuck in my head for a while, so I am pleased that people simultaneously love it while deeply hating me. (I also need to watch more of s3 of the show at some point, for reasons).

Anyway. Thank you for letting me know that it ruined you, because that is always what a fic writer is aiming to do with a story like that (welp?) and yes.

Gosh, your post speaks to me. Like the moment I saw the scene with Emma, I just sighed knowing certain people would try to make it a Thing™. I was not disappointed. It's so transparent.

It’s SO transparent. But to me it’s also just…really upsetting? Not even because I ship something else, but because even if I did ship it, that scene should not be viewed as sexual? In any way? Violence against women should not be sexualized. I think Flynn’s actions in the scene were totally justified because Emma is a skilled fighter and he was treating her like an enemy, as he should have. But it is so wrong to say there was sexual tension in a moment where a male character viciously threw a female character into furniture, threatened her life, and then pulled a gun on her. 

Obviously, I ship Lucy and Flynn, but I have never and would never claim that him grabbing her arm at the end of 1x10 or the beginning of 1x11 involved sexual tension. I wrote an entire meta on the scene in 1x02 where he and Lucy fight (which I still don’t think was on the same level as what happened in this scene) to say why I thought it happened the way it did and why I didn’t find it a barrier to shipping them in the future, but I would never say that scene involved sexual tension and I’ve never heard anyone else try to claim it did.  

Beyond which, I feel like there’s this undercurrent to it that’s like…well, Emma’s evil so it’s fine? No worries, we should all be a-okay with shipping her with someone who wants her dead, especially in a moment where he’s just been violent towards her? But Lucy is a good and pure angel, so if anyone suggests she should be with someone who has even looked at her the wrong way, god for-fucking-bid. 

I am Tired™.

ok sarah listen here i’m going to tell you my two regrets in life:

1. making the decision to watch teen wolf.

2. making the decision to rewatch this godforsaken show.

i just spent the past 20 minutes so fucking annoyed at the timeline inconsistencies with the hale fire + kate + paige + cora. you’d think after three seasons of torment and bullshit i’d be ~over it but i’m so not (also rip me i’m going to attempt to watch past season 3)

asfdgjdkdkdklkd ok first of all i left for 1 WHOLE DAY and second of all WESCOLA and the wedding title were too much for my fragile heart so i returned for 5 minutes before remembering everything negative and running back for the hills
