Crackler vs. Gabara Crackler (Godzilla: The Series) The Crackler is a Tulpa—a psychic manifestation of Sydney Walker's suppressed rage and frustration, brought to life through his connection to an experimental electroshock therapy machine. Unlike most monsters in the series, the Crackler is deliberately malicious, initially targeting specific locations that are subjects of Walker's anger while leaving other areas untouched. It has six eyes on stalks, a lanky physique, and controls electricity with various shocking attacks. The creature feeds on electrical energy, making it stronger, which means Godzilla's atomic breath actually powers it up rather than harming it. It makes cackling, giggling sounds that resemble laughter—hence its punny name. The Crackler represents the personification of Walker's emotions he was too meek to express, embodying "Who's Laughing Now?" as it acts on anger its creator couldn't voice. After H.E.A.T. disconnects Walker from the machine, the Crackler loses its focused purpose and begins blindly attacking everything. It's ultimately defeated when Walker releases all his suppressed rage, causing the creature to weaken, then Godzilla destroys it using the charged Unisphere the Crackler had thrown at him—a classic case of Hoist by His Own Petard. Gabara (Toho) Gabara from the Showa era's All Monsters Attack (also known as Godzilla's Revenge) is a nightmare creature who exists primarily in young Ichiro's dream. Within the dream, Gabara is explicitly identified as a bully who picks on and fights monsters too small to defend themselves, particularly tormenting Minilla (Godzilla's son) because he can't fight back. Gabara has a distinctive appearance: the face of a cat, green warty skin, and a reptilian belly—a true Mix-and-Match Critter. His signature power is Shock and Awe: the horn on his head generates electricity that he must physically touch his target to discharge, functioning as both a paralyzer and causing agony. He's characterized as a Dirty Coward who prefers easy targets. When Gabara attacks Godzilla out of spite after Minilla defeats him, he learns the hard way that Godzilla only tolerated him because he wanted Minilla to handle the bully himself. Despite being talked up as just a bully, Gabara manages a few good hits on Godzilla using his electrical powers, even putting him in a bind that requires Minilla's assistance—making him Not-So-Harmless. According to some sources, he's either an oni (Japanese demon) or a mutant toad. Gabara is a One-Shot Character who became a notorious Butt-Monkey in the franchise, with Godzilla: Monster Apocalypse giving him an undignified death—injured by a thermite explosion, then eaten alive by crocodiles and piranhas.
