Being led into town by the crown prince didn’t garner as much attention as Rose expected that it would. He nodded to a few shopkeepers, but they seemed to be more interested in Rose than him.
“Ah…” he rubbed his hand over the back of his neck and looked at her apologetically, “We should probably get you something to wear so you blend in a little more. The grey… it’s not doing us any favors.”
Rose looked down at her clothes. “But I don’t have anything else. And I don’t have any money.”
He looked at her a bit like she was stupid, and then pointed at himself. “Crown prince.”
“Oh, shut up.”
He took that as a ‘yes’ and grinned widely at her, leading her to a shop that was partially down an alley. Rose recoiled at first, but he didn’t seem nervous and showed no signs of betraying her so far, so she reluctantly followed him in.
It was a cute little place, with dark mahogany furniture and red accents. There were only one or two other people in the store, but the clothes themselves were also impressive to look at, and she instantly knew that even if she lived above ground, what was sold here would never be anything that she was able to afford. She was also starting to wonder if it was possible to overload from just looking at colors for too long.
“Oi! What brings your sorry arse into my shop, your highness?” A redheaded woman called out from behind the counter, hands on her hips as she scowled at Theta. Rose balked. Was she allowed to talk to the Prince of Gallifrey like that? “Donna! I’ve got a new friend for you to meet. Want to quit hiding behind the counter?”
“I’m not hiding, I’m doing my job. Something I pray to the gods you’ll eventually be decent at.”
Ten: Rose, I think Jack wants to mail us somewhere!
Rose: *is very confused* Why...?
Ten: He said "I ship you two" and now I'm very concerned!
Rose: *trying to hold back laughter* D-Doctor, that's not what that means.
The Doctor joins Rose and Clara for a very happy Christmas.
This Means War
Ten x Rose x Clara
Summary: For the 31 Days of Ficmas prompt #13 - Snowball fight.
Notes: Pure unadulterated OT3 fluff!
[AO3]
The snowball hit the Doctor in the back of the head, dripping icy cold slush into the collar of his shirt.
He whirled around, his long brown coat fluttering out behind him. “Oi!”
Rose and Clara froze, one still kneeling on the ground to gather more snow, the other ready with another freshly packed ball in her hands.
“We are here,” he said slowly, “on an important, diplomatic mission, to prevent an intergalactic incident...”
Rose dropped the snowball she was holding and pressed her lips together. The Doctor rarely got cross with either of them, but he was right, they were here for a good reason and it wasn’t to faff about in the snow. Beside her, Clara straightened cautiously, brushing off the snow from her gloves against the puffy blue coat she’d found in the TARDIS wardrobe.
“And you two are throwing snowballs,” the Doctor continued, taking a step forward. The crinkly lines by his eyes started to show as his eyes widened slightly. “And leaving yourselves defenseless!”
He bent and scooped up some snow in his hand, giving it enough of a squeeze to pack it together as he moved. Rose backed up, her mouth cruving as she reached for Clara’s arm. They weren’t fast enough, however, as the Doctor’s face broke out in a wide, almost manic grin, and the snowball came flying at them.
It smacked Clara in the arm, and he bent to make another as the girls squealed and ran for cover. The next ball hit the tree next to Rose, but she returned fire immediately.
“Ha! Right on the arse!” Clara exclaimed, letting out a peal of laughter as Rose ran towards her.
He gave Rose a saucy look, his eyebrows wiggling ridiculously. “Oh, you’ll pay for that Rose Tyler!”
“I hope so,” she replied, grinning with her tongue poking between her teeth.
At that moment, Clara dumped a handful of snow right down the back of Rose’s coat, and she shrieked. “Who’s side are you on!”
Clara stopped and shrugged, her head tilted to the side in amusement. “My own.”
Snow starting flying right and left, then. It was thrown, kicked, and even blown by some previously unused setting on the sonic screwdriver.
Diplomacy could wait, they decided, right now, it was war.

Clara tugged on John’s hand. “Come on! We told Rose we were going to be there ten minutes ago.”
“I know, I know. Did you text her?”
“Yeah, but you know she doesn’t always have her phone on her when she’s working. I can’t believe we’re late for this.”
“We’re only a couple minutes away, we’ll be fine,” he said, but he picked up the pace nonetheless.
They rushed into the gallery in a swirl of snowflakes and cold air, cheeks flushed from the rush and the chill. Rose looked up from her clipboard as they did, smiling at the pair of them from next to the Christmas tree set up in the middle of the room.
“About time you got here,” she teased.
John rubbed at the back of his neck as he glanced around the mostly empty room. “You gave us the wrong time so we’d get here on time, didn’t you?”
“Got it in one,” Rose answered with a laugh as Clara and John crossed the room to her.
Fanfic Writer Wednesday - The Back Catalogue Edition (January ‘17)
So, @chocolatequeennk and I chatted briefly the other week about my attempts to roll my fic rec tag into manageable rec posts once a month - and I want to go back to doing that, because it means I get to re-share super excellent fic with you all, all over again.
So. We’ll go back to January for this week, and go weekly ‘til I catch up and then we’ll do this monthly. Hopefully, it will have the added bonus of meaning I reblog more fic in order to fill the post. Win/win, I think!
(Long-ass rec post under the cut)
Hi! You're one of my favorite authors! Allonswolf (ot3) bonding in the tardis, watching a movie or something?
Oh thank you sweetie!!! <3 <3 <3
“How about a nice romance?” Rose suggested, already knowing what the Doctor’s response would be.
“Absolutely not.” He shuddered. “I say we watch an action movie--”
“You two complain all through those about people not running toward the explosion,” Clara interjected. “How about this alien movie, it looks pretty--”
“Only if you want to listen to the Doctor complain about scientific inaccuracies the entire time.”
The three exchanged looks, and sighed. “Maybe we should just go somewhere instead.”
“Sounds good.”
“Yup.”
