When Rose sleeps, it’s no real surprise she often dreams – They’re quite vivid and they usually involve some rehashing of the things that happened during her day. Until she was eight years old, little Rose Tyler made a morning habit of crawling into her mother’s lap and telling her every little detail she could possibly remember. Which, as a child, wasn’t always much.
It wasn’t until she started traveling with the Doctor that she started to have proper NIGHTMARES. – – now, Rose had nightmares before every once in a while, sometimes more after her relationship with Jimmy Stone. But they were essentially just incredibly uncomfortable dreams. But, after some time with the Doctor, and after meeting that Dalek in the bunker in Utah, the nightmares simply became another part of Rose’s life. She’d dream that the Dalek actually killed her, or something equally horrifying happened to the Doctor, and she’d wake up screaming in a cold sweat, clutching at her hair…
He didn’t hear her screams that first night. And she’d felt so foolish – Only babies have nightmares, Rose, grow up – that she didn’t seek comfort in his arms.
The next night he did hear her screaming – And in typical awkward-Doctor fashion, held her hand as she wept and tried to explain the dream. Clinging to his jumper, she begged him not to leave her, not to make her sleep ALONE.
And Rose Tyler never slept alone after a nightmare again.
