Mickey and Ian are in their forties with a little bit of domestic bliss.

Ian + Mickey + rain

It's pouring down rain and Ian and Mickey are stuck in the dugout. Puddles of mud form where the water seeps through the wooden slats, and occasionally the wind will pick up and swirl around in the enclosure, spraying them. They try to stay as far away from the fence as possible since they can hear thunder rumble above them, and see the flashes of lightening. Mickey jokes that if Ian hadn't finished just as the storm started, he would have been struck and died bent over and hanging onto it. Ian's first reaction was to choke out a laugh, but then he forced a straight face to tell Mickey that wouldn't be entirely funny. He waves him off and curses when he realizes the one cigarette he had in his pocket is somehow drenched and useless. He chucks it out into the onslaught as punishment. They both bring their feet up on the bench and stare out at the sheets of rain falling, practically blocking their view of the field. Ian sighs and says it's kind of cool, as he slowly lays his head on Mickey's shoulder. Mickey shivers, but whether it's because of the drop in temperature, he doesn't know. He doesn't shrug in answer, not wanting to give the other boy the wrong idea, so he just agrees out loud and leaves it at that. And maybe he gets tired of holding his head up, as the rain continues, and Ian doesn't mind at all. And they certainly don't leave right away after it stops.

Cliches

It was just one of those days. There was nothing important to do, there was no reason to spend time together but they were going to do it any. Ian and Mickey wandered around aimlessly, kicking at gravel and cans, smoking, drinking and exchanging needless small talk. There was something oddly comforting about it, one boy at the side of the other; a small smirk exchanged briefly but often, shoulders colliding when a particularly challenging rock crossed their path and they both went for it at the same time.

“S'gonna rain,” Mickey mumbled, cigarette hanging out of his mouth.

“Wanna come back to mine? There's no one home.” Ians eyebrow hitched up.

“Sure?”

“Sure.”

Mickey shrugged and started up walking again, just as leisurely as before not really wanting to rush, who cared if they got a little wet.

Or maybe a lot wet.

Just as the thought went through his mind the heavens opened. Not a light drizzle like he was expecting, more like a sky sized bucket had been tipped over, sheet upon sheet of rain. Their shirts were instantly soaked and stuck to them, Ians in all the right places, the white becoming translucent. They both stood still, unable to move from the shock, laughing, warm rain not exactly unpleasant.

“Hey Mick, ever heard that old cliché?” Ian turned so he was face on with the shorter boy. Mickey didn't reply, only stared at him processing the question. The obviously rhetorical question. Mickeys hair had lost all sense of style hanging limp over his face, both their faces were dripping, water rolling off their noses, clinging to eyelashes, wetting mouths and yet neither broke the gaze, not even to try and get dry for the smallest moment.

What the hell.

It was spontaneous, the collision making both of them groan, it was more than Ian was expecting. Mickeys hand finding the back of his neck and pulling him down, anything other than gently, was always unexpected, it always came with the biggest thrill, a shudder that made his back arch. Their mouths sealed together, the rain making everything ten times wetter – warmer – messier.

They both panted, Mickeys tongue flicking out to lick at his mouth sporadically.

“I don't know man, I kinda like clichés.”
