Dear Gus & Magnus,
This morning Gus asked Mom if boys could marry boys and she said anyone can marry anyone they want. Later, we met up with William and Isaac from Gus's class at Allsopp Park. While the moms pushed Magnus and Eli on the swings -- before the other kids showed up -- I kept an eye on Gus and Isaac. At one point, they were playing in the sand and I heard Gus whispering to Isaac about how he had "asked my mom about it and she said we could." They were both excited about the prospect of marrying each other.
Gus, this conversation will likely just serve to embarass you and Isaac when you are older, but it did force me to really think about how I would feel if you grow up and marry another person of the same sex. I want you to know that it wouldn't bother me an ounce. Not an ounce. I'd still be endlessly proud of having you for a son. And the same goes for you, Mags. Y'all go be who you want to be. No matter what that looks like, Mom and I will love you "infinity plus one hundred plus one thousand," as Gus is fond of saying.
Dad.
